There is only one Dodge in PS and it does not have factory support so who cares? More power to Roy and Allen for sticking with the Mopar but why change the rule for one car?

:D That's what Ronnie and Buddy asked way back in 1972! :D
That was a whole different deal in those days. Now all the makes are on an even footing. I think Allen and Roy will find the combination eventually. They did find something lately.

Ah, but that's the thing—when Sox & Martin dominated the latter half of '70 and all of '71 all makes WERE on the same even footing.
Ronnie's domination caused NHRA's Jack Hart to initiate the weight breaks that allowed the small blocks to rule PS for most of the remaining decade.

But now back to 2017, Millican's win was the latest "feels great" ending. I love to see Allen Johnson be the next.
After all, PS is supposed to be about factory hot rods, meaning a battle between the Detroit brands. Now it virtually has the same "diversity" as the fuel classes. I hope J&J can pull one off soon to make that untrue!

That's just it; there doesn't need to be a rule change for one car. The rule should've never changed in the first place because their reasoning for it essentially failed in the first place. Let them run the RPM's they want and each make will find their sweet spot for peak power. It's pretty simple.

When you go back and look, yes KB Racing dominated last season, but AJ was one of the only other competitive cars out there on a weekly basis. Apparently, everyone else caught up or surpassed.

The rule changes were so fans could "relate" to the cars better......EFI, decals on windshield, lower rpms.......

working out great

edit; and shorter wheelie bars

You almost can't blame NHRA for trying with the changes that were made. Problem is, after 46+ years of evolution, the cars of today can only be changed so much, without actually throwing the current cars out and starting with a clean slate. Which, obviously, has been discussed in threads before.

Well here's a Ford in Norwalk. Good luck Charlie.

You hit the nail on the head. PS needs a reboot. I seriously doubt it NHRA allowed any rpm level that more Mopar cars would come out or Ford. How many left because of the rule?

The Johnson's are using CFE ported heads and intake now. Wilson Manifolds is out.
