THanks for getting the information out. I will keep an eye out for the transcript although I am sure it will take some time to get typed up and ready for release.
I am glad the JFR will be in Vegas and spearheading the changes to keep the drivers safer.

They are making the roll cages bigger...Also changing the harnesses, neck braces, and other stuff for side impact as well...

I am on the call now

They (JFR) are also testing tomorrow, with the blessing of the NHRA, in the presence of Dan Olsen, testing 300 foot runs with the new changes...NO DATA RECORDERS are allowed on these, because of the testing rule that you cannot test on a track that you are about to race on...This is simply to test the changes in the cockpit and make sure that they are drivable

I am not going to say shocked, but admire the way how John Medlen sounds and his insight into this issue... What a man and father... This group of people are simply amazing... I really wish everyone could hear this... Ashley is holding up very strong as well... Thanks Jay

I agree....they are really terrific...Kudos and Best wishes to all of them..

And no sweat Ray..

Tire went down.

I think Darrel Gwynn<sp> Has been talking about cages needing to be bigger for a while now.He stated in an interview I heard on a radio show that a probable cause of His neck injury was due to the cage being too tight of a fit, and after belt stretch(which they do), he hit his head on the top of the cage.I think the wider cages are a great idea.We also probably need to look into form fitting seats(or something like a La Joie). You really need to be part of the car in an accident.
Hope the new changes are no big deal to driving.

"A fan can't tell whether a car is going 300 or 330mph"

Yeah you can! I guess soon the NHRA with John's help will put the clamps down and really try slow the fuel cars up...

I'm not going to say anymore, because it seems to get discussed a lot on here, but I'm not one for slowing the cars down, it will defeat a part of what drag racing is all about.

Mike

How many times have they TRIED to slow the cars down now? They do this everytime something happens and then they find other ways to make more power anyway. I agree that slowing the cars down will not make that much of a difference. At 300 or 330, when things go wrong its just bad news, whats 30 mph going to do?

Sorry Michael, but in no way shape or form can a fan truly tell the difference from 300-330. much like you can't tell the differecne between An A/Fuel run that is 260 or Riechert's 284 mph laps last weekend.
With another car beside it going the faster speed obviously you can tell but two side by side laps you ain't that good.

Dean

300 to 330? Maybe not, but a 4.70 from a 4.48 Looks like molasses! It would take MAJOR rule changes to take 30 MPH out of those cars! As if this sports not expensive enough....

"A fan can't tell whether a car is going 300 or 330mph"

who are you quoting? me? cuz I posted those words two weeks ago.

JFR rocks. Go Ashley, Robert, and John. This is a freak deal that no one could have seen coming, but they will get thru it.
I 've never been a Force fan, because ,well, he wins so much.
But I'll enjoy every win they ever get from this point on.
Talk about taking the bull by the horns. They make the changes they test them themselves, then pass em on to the rest of the field.

I don't know that I've ever heard of anything like it in all of motorsports.
