JKJ Motorsports Launches New Web Site (1 Viewer)

HOUSTON, Texas (February 16, 2010) – After nearly a three-year hiatus from drag racing, racer Jonathan Johnson returns in 2010 with backing from long-time sponsor Bar’s Leaks and the company’s Rear Main Seal Repair product line. Johnson and his wife, Katie, have teamed with former USAC Midget car owner Corky Wheeler to form Johnson & Wheeler Racing under Johnson’s current JKJ Motorsports banner. After finalizing their plans, the team promptly prepared the new car and equipment, and thus, have launched their new web site, which can be found at JKJ Motorsports | Welcome!, as well as their new Facebook fan page.

“JKJ Motorsports has always had the ability to keep our marketing and design in-house,” states Katie Johnson. “Even when Jonathan and I were dating in college, we realized the importance of being able to oversee certain areas such as websites and marketing materials to ensure their content and consistency. When we elected to start fresh with our website, I knew the exact look that would suit our new team. We put a great amount of thought into the site navigation and giving fans the insights and in-depth information that would make the site one they would want to visit on a regular basis. In conjunction with our new website, we feel our new Facebook page will give our Facebook friends a great venue to follow us with fun and informative wall tabs, as we will have the ability to highlight events and marketing partners throughout the year in a unique way,” concludes Katie.

Johnson, whose most recent NHRA win came in 2006 at the Heartland Park Topeka Division 5 event in Top Alcohol Funny Car, maintains his excitement about the opportunity to be back in the Super Classes of NHRA. He and Wheeler teamed in 2009 to run 5 events, with a few late round appearances in the Super Comp class. With their warm-ups in place, the team looks forward to what their first full year together has in store.

"We are so excited for what 2010 holds for our team,” Jonathan exclaims. “When Katie and I sat down last year to discuss this opportunity and the future of what racing had in store for us, we felt that teaming with Corky would give us the perfect opportunity to return to drag racing. Additionally, it was the perfect venue to dedicate the season to our late friend, Nickey Felsher, fellow racer and the original owner of the engine that we will be racing."

The team plans to run nearly twenty events in 2010, including 3 national events, 3-5 divisional events, and a host of bracket races. In addition to racing events, the Bar’s Leaks entry will be on display at various car shows and local events throughout the year.

Based in Houston, Texas, JKJ Motorsports is a Super Comp drag racing team in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. The team was founded by Jonathan Johnson and his wife, Katie Johnson. Since 1992, Jonathan has matured through the sportsman ranks of drag racing and has found a long-term home in the Super Classes of the NHRA sportsman drag racing series. Johnson, the 1996 Division 4 Jr. Dragster Champion, has wins in vehicles in Junior Dragster, Super Street, Stock Eliminator, Super Gas, and Top Alcohol Funny Car.
