Bar’s Leaks Funny Car Heads to Johnson’s Houston Home

NEWAYGO, Michigan – Coming from a win during the Division 5 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Event in Topeka, Etterman Racing heads to team driver Jonathan Johnson’s home track at Houston Raceway Park for this weekend’s Division 4 event.

In addition to the routine racing rituals, the team will host the local Boy Scouts of America Councils as a part of their Race to Scouting campaign. Etterman Racing, along with their marketing partners, feel that this is a wonderful opportunity to involve themselves in the enrichment in young people’s lives, as well as showing them the results of hard work, joint collaborations and leading healthy lifestyles.

“Many people are excited about racing at their home tracks, and I am no different,” states Jonathan Johnson. “It is always fun for me, because coming home gives me a chance to see many of my friends that I have made along the years coming from junior, bracket and sportsman racing. Also, racing in Houston gives me a chance to see and connect personally with many of my long-time marketing partners. Furthermore, I do not think I have ever been more excited at any period in my racing career. Things are going great here at Etterman Racing; the car is very competitive, we are all having a great time, and I feel we can keep our momentum going from Topeka. This weekend is also special for me, because I have the opportunity to receive my Texas A&M Aggie Senior Ring Thursday evening, which shows a lot of hard work and dedication on my part over the years and becomes yet another symbol and aspect I can speak to the boy scouts about,” asserts Johnson.

“We have a lot to be excited about and thankful for right now,” comments George Etterman. “The race in Houston proves as one that this team has traditionally done very well at. Our former driver, Tate Branch, won this race six times in the last seven years and the rest of the team remembers that. We all want to keep that momentum going with Jonathan as our driver. As like most teams, we want to win, but this race puts a little more pep in our step than some others,” concludes Etterman.

“This upcoming weekend should provide Etterman Racing with numerous memories,” admits Katie Ward, marketing and graphics. “Not only is this the weekend of George’s birthday, but also the boy scouts will be able to witness a great team that works wonderfully together. Moreover, I could have not chosen a better role model than Jonathan for them to observe and speak with for this weekend. He lives his life to work his hardest and to be great at everything he does. Not only is Jonathan a full-time sportsman racer, he also attends Texas A&M University as a full-time student, assists me with both the marketing and graphics, as well as maintaining a clean and healthy lifestyle. His charismatic charm aids him in drawing the boys in, while his message sticks for a long-lasting lesson,” states Ward.
