Bob
Like you, Jim was a good friend of mine and that of many of us that raced against Jim. he had so much talent tuning a fuel car. we are losing a lot of the good guy's lately, the good guy's go first. I will live to be older than Isky. LOL.
RIP--JIM
And to his fantastic lovely wife Carol my condolences.
Larry Sutton---Lions Starter
You could say that there was only one Brissette but actually there were two. Jim's older brother Bob ran the dry lakes - got him started and he never slowed down. There was never anyone who had such a low keyed temperament and was thinking all the time. He could be seen all times of day and night washing parts and putting "MOTORS" together in his garge in Eagle Rock. He was probably the first to recognise that you had to load a fuel engine hard all the way. Always ran a BIG number with a SMALL engine. His combanitions matched the tires. As the tires got better Jim built bigger Motors. Jim and Kent Enderle were practically joined at the hip. Almost all developments in Enderly Injectors were tried out by Jim. When Enderly decided to make an injector for the small Mopar's (Chrsler/Dodge/Desoto) for Jr Fuel Jim built a motor and I drove the car down at LIONS to test it. At the starting line I saw the Oil Pressure gauge boncing off 0 and pointed it out to my wife. She panicked and grabbed Jims arm - pointing it out to him. Without any expression he calmly walked over and turned it around 180 degrees. Then he looked at me and motioned toward the Starting Line. I made the run (without getting oiled down aka Chevrolet style) and everything was good. I asked Jim "What happened" and he said "It was a Slug - too rich". I said "No, the oil Pressure". He said "Oh that -no problem". Later I found out it was a high volumn - low pressure system. If Brissette had wanted to be a Poker Player instead of a World Class Drag Racer I am convinced that He would have been a World Class Poker Player.
P.S. Jim's wife's little brother was in my adult trade school Auto Shop class.
