JFR Major Announcement!

John Force will stop his scooter to give his hat to a disabled kid, yet you hate him and his family for no apparent reason. Yet some other drivers cough*Brandon*cough have a rep for treating fans like sh*t, and you worship them. Weird.

I think the statement was just referring to the fact that if you root for or against there is more variety in the class.....of course I could be wrong.

sam, you gotta' start reading a little slower - steve b. did not say anything
hateful about JFR in his post that you quoted.
he simply stated the obvious 2 sides to any coin with a genuine optimistic comment to close.

Billy, you obviously have more experience in the Sponsor/marketing dept. Than most of us here. but we have been hearing those statements for years! This will introduce Drag racing to a whole new Demo.....Same old...I'll believe when I see it!

Joe... this company is freaking HUGE !!! world wide.... lot of insiders say that you see the off-road stadium trucks on NBC and other places on tv becasue of them... they sponsored/owned a couple.. then made and r/c version that was cheaper than most and was "ready to run" now BOOM CORRA and Lucas Oils series.. you name.. made huger leaps in their tv and fan base...

if nothing more their name on this car will be on their web site and from what i have heard gets 3million UNIQUE views a month.. not total hits... alot of those people will tune in to some races... maybe a few will show up at races(thats the big un-known)....

THis companys sale are so big and reach such a diverse group that in some citys people open up TRAXXAS only stores at Christmas time...

i just hope for two things.. TRAXXAS takes the NHRA nad drag racing serious and produces a r/c drag car that represents what we love... not just a toy to say they did.... and two... that ESPN and the NHRA keep on the ball with tv programing.. no BS delays (i know wishful thinking).. to keep these NEW people viewing...

Sam: I believe Roy & Mike are correct. Me thinks you owe Steve an apology.

Now back to the announcement.
The online press conference had more technical difficulties than the worst race audiocast. They hyped it really well on facebook, then it was sh_t!!! After trying for 45 mins, i finally got Courtney speaking but it would only last 20-30 secs! I have a Droid 3 and reading the online chat, I wasn't the only one struggling with it. There were at least hundreds(maybe thousands) on and it seemed most had issues. iPhones were having trouble too. I think they realized the problem and that's why it got on NHRA.com so quickly. Oh well. Next time it'll go better!

Bummed about no Larry!!! :(

Reading comprehension must not have been required for you to graduate high school. He didn't say he hated Force, he was just stating the obvious. The JFR koolaid crew will be all for the new team and those who root for other teams will have another team to root against when their favorite driver lines up against Courtney.

I've edited my post above, again sorry about that.

Anyway, one day I checked out those Traxxas R/C cars. They don't come cheap, that's for sure....

actually for what you get they are VERY cheap, very well inexpensive anyway...

back in the late 80's/early90's I was running a hobby shop that did a lot of R/C stuff, Traxxas was just starting to get big then...they were the first to really promote ready-to-run cars and trucks that weren't cheap "throw a ways"...Traxxas seemed to have done a very good job and anticipated the change in the R/C hobby (and other hobbies) from a being "kit based" to ready-to-run based...good for them

and yes, it would be kinda cool to have a good scale R/C funny car ;)

Billy Weeks Nobody is questioning Traxxas' Viability in the Off-Road series! Yes it is huge, but it's NOT Drag racing, and while I'm happy any sponsor comes onboard in this sport. Drag racing is Apples and Oranges to practically every other Motorsport out there, different crowds! If somehow I am wrong and this somehow becomes a Major positive in the PR dept. I will gladly apologize.

What does make me curious is who over at Traxxas decided NHRA Drag racing was an avenue to promote their company!

Ok... let me explain why i think it has potentail for growth for drag racing...

making a long story short...when TRAXXAS's owners got into racing and sponsring the CORRA trucks their best ever tv deal was the one big race a year held in the upper mid west was recorded and played at 2 to 4 am on ESPN years ago....TRAXXAS use to promote the races in their products... and began selling copys fo the BIG trucks in R/C "ready to run" format.. which had a hand it bringing back to life the almost dead form of motorsports... to the point the Lucas has their own series and TRAXXAS had theirs they sponsored... now you can see the current verions of those BIG trucks and buggys racing on NBC, ABC/ESPN.. VS's and SPEED.... Weither or not anyone at LUCAS will say it or not..TRAXXAS cross promotion of their products with this area of motorsports helped it grow....

HOPEFULLY.. it will do the same for the NHRA and drag racing...

As per who decided.. i would guess the two brothers that own it.... they both are former(think one still is) drivers in the Short Course trucks.... both are sever gear heads... whats the best way to enjoy your passion?.. be involved.. that would be my guess.... Plus there is the NITRO factor.... most of TRAXXAS's products run on NITRO....

IDEA.... on the return roads at events.. have r/c trucks doing tricks on ramps and such during down time.... beats the t-shirt guns...lol...(probably already being done)

Joe don't you worry, they have TraXXas drag racing package in the works, with cars that run over 100 mph.

Are you a stockholder? TraXXas picked short course off road racing and NHRA drag racing, they feel motorsports is a strong venue for their marketing effort and you seem to think it isn't.

I think this is awesome, and could help bring a new audience to the sport. I think the fact that these little cars run on nitro is huge from a promotional standpoint. This could be the best fit since the Revell days. I still don't get why there isn't a Hot Wheels car out there. Seems natural to me.

This is a great shot in the arm for the NHRA at time when it sorely needs it.

Much kudos to whoever pulled it off, I'm curious whether it was 100% a John Force effort or if the NHRA assisted in landing the deal.

Whoever it was, what a perfect sponsor for an NHRA team and for drag racing as a whole, I really think its going to do some real good for the sport and could help pull in some additional new sponsors.

I'm stoked that he is bringing back his TV series "Driving Force", and is still planning on doing a Motorsports themed Restaurant. My favorite two interests ...TV, and Food.:D

I remember at the old Race Rock that used to be in Orlando they had one of John's FC on a turn-table inside the place. Very cool :) Too bad the place was dismantled and auctioned off piece by piece :(
