I remember at the old Race Rock that used to be in Orlando they had one of John's FC on a turn-table inside the place. Very cool :) Too bad the place was dismantled and auctioned off piece by piece :(
That place was cool. If you ever get a chance, stop by the Pit Stop restaurant, right around the corner from all the race shops in Brownsburg In. You just never know who you will run in to in there, and the food is pretty good.

Joe don't you worry, they have TraXXas drag racing package in the works, with cars that run over 100 mph.

Are you a stockholder? TraXXas picked short course off road racing and NHRA drag racing, they feel motorsports is a strong venue for their marketing effort and you seem to think it isn't.

No I'm not a Stockholder, but if I was I would wonder how advertising in Drag racing helps the company! Wouldn't you?

So now the question is....how long does everybody think they will hang around?

A bit of a side track here..but it involves JFR....

VP Racing Fuels makes a brand of r/c fuels... have for years.. but recently thay begin to do sales under their own name brand "Powermaster".. in many r/c car mags they advertise using John Forces Funny Car.....

Darr.. dont get me started on that 100mph Traxxas car...lol.

Joe, maybe I'm reading this incorrectly but you sure sound negative about this new sponsor. With the economy being what it is and how difficult it is to attract new sponsors isn't this great news? Not only do we have a new sponsor in the sport but it is a company that produces Toys that run on Nitro. Considering all the recent Threads and chatter about the NHRA dying a slow death due to the younger generation snubbing it isn't this possibly what we've all been hoping would come along? Now let’s get a sponsors Toy war going since the beer wagons have vacated!!!!

With the track record that JFR has with all their sponsors, I would have to think that Traxxas will be there for many years.

Joe, you having a bad day? Usually you are extremely bullish on drag racing no matter what negatives someone may bring up, you're one guy who I thought would be stoked about this new sponsor. Obviously, they see a benefit, and Force wouldn't roll out a brand new team based on an iffy deal. I really hope this deal gets traction (pun ntended :D )

Yeah.....I picked the Wrong day to quit Sniffing Glue!!!!

No Joe, I know how effective motorsports and drag racing can be as part of a broad marketing approach, but nobody puts all their eggs in any one basket, TraXXas is involved in other forms of motorsports and I can assure you that they are measuring the response on a day-to-day basis.

The high profile of JFR will extend into all aspects of JFR's racing effort and multiply any dollar amount that TraXXas is spending on the sponsorship of one JFR car. However, spending money as the official battery charged, fast vehicle of the National Hot Rod Association is a mystery, except as you may have seen, the activation of TraXXas product demonstration in front of spectator eyes at NHRA events.

JMHO

will agree with you and at same time be cautiously optimistic.
many businesses have graced the sides of nitro fc's and tf'rs - very few with
longevity.......02 guess is their marketing plan is
similar to what many have done...... hope i'm wrong.
(brut would be a good example)

Paul, you know as well as I do, there are plenty of out clauses in sponsor contracts.

These guys are pretty smart when it comes to busines.. they understand not every deal is a quick hit.. takes time and work.. i believe they are in it for the full term... if they believe in it they are in it fully.... they are stubburn that way....

I agree Billy, however, if a sponsor feels it isn't a good fit they have ways out of their deal. It will cost them some $$$ to get out, but they can get out of it.

When I was young I used to ride a bus uptown to the only Hobby Shop I knew of where I could buy all my airplane stuff !
That was before Radio Control but man I was dedicated to flying those things with up to four foot wing spans !
The fuel sure was hot !
Been wanting to get my grandsons involved in R C stuff . Wondering if my backyard will support a Dragstrip ! Sounds good to me !
Never could get into electric slot cars !

Actually, the new electric rc's with brushless motors and lipo batteries are often as fast or faster than their nitro brothers. The electronics advance on almost a daily basis. You can actually plug in the truck or cars speed controller to you computer and set a tune, etc. Amazing stuff.

Joe starting to rub off on you a little ???????...........:(

No :D... Just stating that a sponsor can get out of their deal if they want to. I hope Traxxas hangs around for the full 5yrs as it will only help the sport grow. Now, where can I buy my nitro powered RC FC?

I'm still surprised that there's more chatter about, "how long will it last", and how there are out clauses, and how other deals fizzled, etc. than there is excitement. On this board at least. This isn't John's first rodeo, I don't think he would make the investment in a brand-new, full tour team, without having a solid anchor in place. Having said that, if Traxxas comes out with a nitro drag car, I'm buying one (or 3 :D)
