Janis Ready for Battle at "The Rock"

Elma, NY – Break out all the ole clichés, "It's not over till the fat lady sings", "never give up without a fight", and any other you can think of and that's the feeling you get from Mike Janis and his team. With only one race remaining in the 2007 IHRA Knoll Gas Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series Mike Janis still has a slim shot at a third series title and his team is gearing up for a battle.

Knowing the road to a third title would be a tough one Janis and his team began preparing for the IHRA final at last weekends NHRA race in Richmond Virginia. "We went to Virginia to test," said team owner/drive Mike Janis. "We've been having a hard time all season controlling the power we have. I know this might sound backwards to some people but earlier in the season we actually had to take a lot of power away from the car to get her to stick to the track. Around mid season we started to creep up on the power we have on tap and run the big mile an hour. Now we are at the point where we will have throw everything we have at the track and see what sticks. We used the Virginia race for that purpose but we weren't as successful as we would have liked. Now we're heading out a few days early and were going to test for a couple of days before the event."

Crew Chief Mike Janis junior knows the task in front of his team is a hard one but feels the pressure is not on them. "Scott (Cannon) has proven himself as a racer this season and he knows how to win but so do we. The way we see it all the pressure is on him," said Crew Chief Mike Janis Jr.. "That being said we have to bring our "A" game and show why our team has two titles under our belts. We have our sights on setting the record and winning the race just like Schumacher in 06', its what we have to do and we are very capable of it. In the past week we've spent extra time on the dyno and are focused on doing this for everyone who supports us!!! "

The $19.5 million Knoll Gas Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series wraps up the 2007 season at the IHRA World Finals presented by the United States Air Force, Oct. 19-21, at historic Rockingham Dragway. For more information, log onto IHRA.com - Homepage Of IHRA Motorsports - A Division Of Live Nation.
