July 18, 2006 - Elma, NY – Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ont., Canada will be the host of the IHRA Canadian Nationals this weekend, July 21-23, and after coming off a huge win in Milan, Michigan Mike Janis and his Eaton/Aeroquip team are hungry for more.
“These “hometown” races are awesome for our team. Last week it was our sponsor’s hometown track and this week it’s our adopted hometown track. Ever since the Empire Nationals went by the wayside this race has been our “hometown” event. Believe it or not the two are about equidistant from the shop and the fan base is pretty much the same. It’s great seeing the people you know there and cheering for you. Of course there is the small fact that you are actually in another country, but it’s still home”, said Crew Chief Mike Janis Jr..
The old airstrip on Kohler Road in Cayuga Ont., Canada has been called many things over its 51-year history but one constant has rung true. Jan-Cen prepared engines have made their way to the winners circle. Many customers of Jan-Cen Motorsports are regular weekly racers at the now legendary facility. Combine the fact that Mike Janis who lives just over an hour away in Lancaster, New York has been racing at the Cayuga facility for over 30 years and one can see why Mike Janis and his Eaton/Aeroquip team call TMP their home track.
In 2004 Janis took home bragging rights with a win, which stands as his closest event win to home. To this day Janis says that win was his most memorable. “Winning at home in 04’ was great,” said Janis. “Being surrounded by so many friends and family who normally can’t come to our events is just fantastic. Being able to share our win with so many people makes the win in Cayuga that year one of my most memorable. I hope we can find the same results this year and keep the momentum rolling.”
