Mike Janis, Eaton Sets Sights On Third World Championship

SOUTHFIELD, MICH. … The Automotive Group and Eaton Hydraulics recently announced that Eaton will be returning as the title sponsor of two-time International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Pro Modified World Champion Mike Janis for the 2007 season. Janis will unveil his car and new paint scheme at the Eaton display at the 55th Annual Murray’s Autorama held in Detroit, March 9-11 at Cobo Hall.

“Competitive drag racing is a great venue to highlight our performance-related product portfolio,” said Tom Nellenbach, marketing manager for Eaton Performance Products. “Eaton’s Aeroquip® hoses, connectors, fittings, Detroit Locker® differentials and racing engine valves and lifters have been helping champions like Mike Janis find the winner’s circle for decades. Mike is a great ambassador for our company and products.”

Eaton has been a sponsor of Mike Janis racing for four years and shared in the joy of winning the IHRA World Championship in 2004. Janis will be attempting to qualify for a limited number National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) races this season as well as the complete IHRA schedule of events.

“Great sponsors are key to winning championships and we’ve been fortunate enough to have the support from Eaton that allows us to go out there and give it our all,” said Mike Janis. “It’s also nice to see Eaton embracing its role in racing. We’ve been using Aeroquip hoses and Eaton manufactured engine valves for as long as I can remember and I think it’s important for the corporation to build on that equity.”
