Ron Capps said a big factor in the runs was a new track surface that was put down.According to NHRA it's 15 ft. I don't know the weather they had today, but, if it happened to be cool, dry, and cloud cover, and you could be way below sea level
According to DRC they had killer conditions for sure:
8:06 p.m.Weather conditions: air temperature 68 degrees, relative humidity 68 percent, barometer 29.92 inches, adjusted altitude 1,257 feet, track temperature 84 degrees.
And I have been to that track ... Seems like it is uphill all the way out of San Francisco on the way there, though you do drop into the valley the last bit to get to the track, but according to the website, it is 15 feet.
Not going to happen today!
Come again? We took the weather right before the Pro session started. It had cooled off a lot by the time the FC's ran! This was with a very strong head wind too.
The backup has to be at least a 3.960 for a new record. Not going to happen today!
Jack's run today might have been even more surprising than the 3.92 yesterday, given the track temperature and headwind. No one else could even run a three. Those two runs were shocking to me, given how no one else was even close.
I feel bad for Hagan-last night he ran 3.96 and no one noticed since it was next to Jack's 3.92!
Your right, John Force has always been about giving newcomers a place to start, Jimmy Prock wouldn't be where he's at if it hadn't been for time he spent at JFR.Lee I'm not sure Force Racing is toast. Prock and Beckman are thundering, for sure, but so are others. And Fast Jack will tell you, these are very fickle cars. I think it's cool that Force has a crew chief that is in his 20s, we need new blood.

So I was wrong <g>! Jack really deserves this!Come again?
I agree he wasProck was well known before his time at JFR.
