Isn't Tripp Tatum's car still out there? That's a Capco built and tuned car and was considered to be team car a year or two ago. Haven't seen it out there in a while.
He still has the car. He has hinted on social media that he might be back out soon.

The fact of the matter is that dives have been happening in all ways, shapes and forms for decades with every team that has had two cars/bikes in the same class. I think most of us understand why it happens and honestly, If I were a team owner I would probably have my #2 guy do it too. I posed the question last year on how you would prefer a team dive go down. Personally I would rather have the dive driver cut an honest light and lift at half track that way it gives the casual fan the optics of a race as opposed to sitting on the tree or staying in the pits.

I've heard several people suggest that if someone were going to dive, they should do the respectful thing and leave it in the trailer. In this case, if Matt's bike failed to fire and couldn't take the green, who would get the win if his other bike didn't stage either?

Didnt angelle catch hell for this one time

I’d like to see the following protocol adopted for anyone that’s there to take a dive:

Their vehicle must have a world record tune up in it and it be made public “We are tuned to run a 6.59”. Of course only in the best conditions would it have a chance of sticking, but that’s half the fun. It’d be better than diving on a .400 light or not leaving the trailer. 99/100 it won’t stick and the plan will work out for the main driver/rider but at least the fans will have something to cheer for.

Anytime you have the opportunity to make a pass, whether testing, qualifying, or Race Day. Why would you not see how the tune-up in it is set up? Even a red-light. Run it. You learn nothing any other way, especially parked in the trailer.
Some seem so entitled to have a email sent or Alan to announce it over the PA ahead of time.
DIve - Dive - Dive. Use your head, it's the countdown. Gaige has a commanding lead, do whatever you have to.

Chip still has a job. Get over yourselves.
It has been going on forever!

🤷‍♂️ Have a great day.

Really? Langdon must have diving down to an art against Doug in round 2. Cut a .036 light and lost by .0077 seconds while running 332 MPH.....

But he doesn't with the win Smith has taken the points lead.

I wasn't paying a lot of attention and missed Chip's dive effort. Oh, I saw the race; I just didn't understand what was going on. Maybe because I've never seen anyone dive with a .400 light. A team of dive judges would have given that effort straight 3.0s.

There's other things besides eating a ham sandwich on the starting line that you can do to dive where it at least looks halfway authentic, like shift early a couple of times, back the tuneup down a mite, or ease off the throttle momentarily at the 330 where nobody notices. Not that hard to blow .08.

But like Ghio says Ellis still has a job and probably a few attaboys (and maybe a laugh or two) when he arrived back at the pits. So it's all good.

Even tho the topic is about Chip talking a dive for Matt. Another one in the Dive dept. was when Troy Coughlin Jr. just took his foot off the gas for Erica and even admited it when being interviewed!

they were trying something on Chip's bike and it worked as he ran 6.72. They didn't want to lose the run
