IT'S GETTING BETTER ALL THE TIME

Brainerd, Minn. (8/12/06) -- Even though it was Fred Turner, former member of Bachman Turner Overdrive, who was in attendance as a guest of Team CSK on Saturday, the most appropriate song to reflect Del Worsham's day might be more of a Beatles' classic. After all, it was "Getting Better All The Time" for Worsham on this day, as he moved himself from outside the field into the 11th spot during Saturday's first lap, and then bested that on his final pass to eventually land in the No. 9 position with a 4.835. He will face Mike Ashley in round one.

"I said yesterday, after we smoked the tires twice, that nobody should panic," Worsham said. "I was saying that to everybody, but also to all of our partners at Checker, Schuck's, Kragen, because I know thousands of them get on-line every night to see how we're doing, and I wanted them to know there was a plan here. Even though we spent the night outside the field, we learned something with each run on Friday. I was very confident we'd go from end to end today, and we did. The first run got us a full-run baseline with this set-up, and it pretty much got us in the field.

"The final run, we pushed it a little, and sure enough it went right out there and improved. I'm not sure, but I think we were the only team that started that session in the field to improve. Everybody else slowed down. To do that, and to jump up to the 9th slot, gives me a lot of confidence going into tomorrow. It's getting better, run after run."
