would be nice to see rendering of what it mite look like......the article states that in the future, IRP would like to reconfigure the road track, so like BIR,
the track could host road and drag events simultaneously ..... so theoretically a new tower could pass over the staging lanes.

i believe the original tower (before wally parks tower) is now located on east side of strip, rite off north end of oval track bleacher complex.
is it used for anything? looks like top floor and roof has been removed, and a standing area with metal railings exists now.
however they do the new tower, i hope there is enough budget for at least one large, if not two or more electronic message displays (like sonoma)

Will they have another tower built in time for the US Nationals this year?

When Bruton Smith built Z-Max the tower was built in 14 weeks. Another 10 weeks to finish the inside. NHRA should get working on the construction, the nationals are only 7 months away.

And the fact that Indiana weather could play a role during it’s construction.

I would have thought by now NHRA would've said something about plans for a new tower, besides the article that was posted. Seven months doesn't seem like a very long time with the possibility for delays. It'll be cool to see what it looks like in person..

hope the roof lines are different than the norm. gainesville comes to mind. they tore down that same cookie cutter white, block tower,
and came back with something very unique.

Hmm, flipping the pro and sportsman side of the pits, when? I will swap my pit side (current) for top eliminator club tickets if they move the pro pits.

Thats the way it used to be before they switched to the east in the 80's. Going to lead to alot of walking for fans as a majority of the parking leads to the east side of IRP. I would also assume this rumored switch would mean the west side will be paved for the Pro's. Interesting!

the emmons family, among others, will lose their coveted 'next to staging lanes' pit spot........they'll probably stake a claim to similar on other side.
depending on design and shape of new tower, wonder if bridge across staging lanes will remain? or will be removed? how about a tunnel under staging lanes
to access both sides? will indy be able to fill the east side bleachers anymore if pros are on west side? i'm thinking not. they should sell east side bleachers (looking into afternoon hot sun)
at a reduced price

Gosh kind of a missed money maker; they should’ve done this when the weather is warmer and had a big jet car meet…. let them all point their exhausts at the tower and burn the thing to the ground 🤭

why wouldn't they remove the blue awning on top of tower and set on stanchions/posts somewhere? wouldn't that make a great 'out of sun' beer garden of sorts?
then again, why is the quota for some sportsman classes so low, when more would line up at the door with wallets open? some things are just not meant to be understood.
wonder if that was a LaBounty brand sheer on the end of that excavator? two harbors, mn based company. part of stanley tools family. sponsored
doug kalitta for a 1 race deal @ BIR a few years ago.
