injected nitro vs. blown alcohol TAD

I like them both. I love A/fuel for the cackle and smell of nitro, but I love the sound of blown alcohol combo revving to the moon also. I wish they'd never neutered the A/fuel combos by taking away nitro percentage from them.

How's your respirator working out for taking photos? I find that it is tough even with blown alcohol. Found out that formaldehyde is a by-product of methanol combustion. Great, I'm inhaling embalming fluid!

It works great! It almost works too good because I can stand right in the middle of the nitro fog and it doesn't faze me one bit. :D I got a half-mask style so it doesn't interfere with me seeing through the viewfinders. If you end up buying one make sure you get the right filters, ones for organic vapor/acid gas. I've seen several other people and teams use other filters but according to 3M organic vapor/acid gas filters are the ones you want for nitro.

I am not a photographer and fumes bothers my eyes, too, so I have a full face respirator. But I don't have organic filters, which I should get. Strangely enough, I'm not bothered by dragsters without a mask, only funny cars. All teams but Kalitta backs their dragsters in now, so I don't get as much fumes as funny cars, which pull straight in. What a difference the direction of the pipes makes.

Anyway, I haven't really used my mask in a while. I just back away when the fumes get too thick.

I like them both! I liked the class even more when you had other combos even if they weren't always super competitive, small blocks, nitrous, twin engines etc. I've always been disappointed that the NHRA took them out of the Phoenix race what has to be close to 10 years ago and never rotated them back through :( The 2 times I spoke with NHRA about the disparity they say oh you can see them the very next weekend at the Divisional event, yeah and pay for tickets and parking all over again!

You just reminded me how much I liked to watch Rick Stantos run. :)

Backing the A/Fuel cars down is the only thing that kept the class from becoming all A'Fuel. Jay Payne, Sean O'Bannon, Jeff Wilson, Lee Calloway, and a couple others switched from Dragster to Funnycar because of it. As for my favorite....I like Blowers, besides the A/Fuel car's sound like crap compared to Top Fuel...
