Jim: He wasn't there and I know you were and he will never know.
Mark

Mark, you epitomize the Arrogance of the 60's Dragrace fan! And you holier than thou's can tell us all day long how today's Drag racing isn't Real drag racing Blah blah blah....Shouldnt you be posting in the Nostalgia section? Today's racing obviously doesn't get your Rocks off!

Clueless Joe shall forever remain, "Clueless" Joe.

PS: Thanks for the compliment. :)

The arrogance of the 60's drag fan?

I don't get it.

No, seriously, I don't get it. Did your girlfriend cheat on you with a 60's drag fan?

I know, I know. I must be whining, bitching, or moaning. Perhaps all three. Let me know, okay pudding chops?

For probably the last 10 years on this, Mater and other Messageboards have been relentlessly bombarded by the "Back in my day" crowd. If today's Drag racing is Soo bad just quit going, we don't need to hear 24/7 about how wonderful everything was at the Track in 1969 or 1977 already! Is NHRA holding a Gun to your head? I wonder how some of you actually discovered Computers, Cellphones and the Internet...

Relentlessly bombarded. You seem to choose words meant to be provocative, often painting it as if you're under attack. Is it so awful that someone has a clear memory and opinion of what made them happy? We get it, you don't like old people, old cars, or anything not made of plastic. I don't feel threatened by your personal choice and view. I do, however, find it curious how often your posts condemn views opposite of yours.

They have. Racers and fans alike.

Same as you. We all woke up one morning in 1993 and that stuff was taped to our foreheads. After trying to use as door stops and bottle openers, we learned there was a power on/off button.

I realize that your worst nightmare came true. You started this thread in-hopes of belittling people for what you call "whining". What happened was all of the people that enrage you posted their nostalgic feelings, not paying attention to your original intent. That really must have set you off.

Post of the year candidate.

Well unlike you and Brezneyland, I'm not stuck in 1972! Life is just too short to think its our way or No way!

Joe, while there are many great things about drag racing, you have to be able to look around and realize that things are not going well. Now I wasn't around in the 60's so I have no idea if drag racing was better than but I sure know that it can be better then it is today.

Maybe that means mixing in some ideas that worked waaaaaaaaay back then, maybe it means new stuff. Possible some of both, but ignoring the obvious and thinking everything is all rainbows and unicorns will not help anything improve either
