If a T/F dragster does a burnout and no one is around to hear it....

But the seats are painted really pretty, so it looks like there's a bunch of folks there... :D

Because it's a mid-week media day and the coverage that will result will put it in front of thousands of potential customers. Not worth the hassle of opening up the place for one set of skids.

But don't you want the media's coverage to show lots of people in the stands when they broadcast it? Wouldn't attending fans also use their own mediums (word-of-mouth and social media) to also spread the word?

It's not important really. Most people watching the story are going to realise it's a stunt. The strong angle is the different audience Jimmie Johnson will help attract to the article.
The cost you would have in terms of security, clean up etc for maybe a few hundred people watching on would not be worth it.
That's if you even got a few hundred people. Mid week people have jobs and going to see one burnout probably isn't going to drag them away.
If it was a full on day of NASCAR vs NHRA stuff then sure, but this is really just a photo opp. Give credit for a unique idea on the comparison anyway.

Exactly. ZMax would much prefer the fans to take their day off of work and spend their money on the weekend, then to come to this. This is purely to get the media to drum up those people to come. There is no foul here.

...is what it should have looked like.

I did like JJ's comment on how Tony's car just shook everything in his car as he went by! Anybody find out if there is any video of this?

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great idea. If there was a NASCAR track near me and I knew it was a free day for a stunt/open house, I might be inclined to go. (I know very little about nascar)

Last Saturday I went to Bakersfield for a nitro event. I was within earshot of the following convo between a newbie and an established fan:
"-Hi.
-Hi.
-This is my first time here. I've never been to a racetrack or even knew this was here. I was given these tickets.
-Oh wow, well glad you could join us!
-We didn't have any plans, and were given the tickets so we said what the hell, let's go. This is awesome! The cars are so loud! I'm texting my friends and posting pics on facebook. I told them to come over here.

About an hour later, the friends did show up! $$$$

Totally agree.
I think Mike English's Pinto Station Wagon could make more smoke than that NASCAR did.

Ah ha ha ha LOL.
