I look forward to...

Personally, I couldn't care less who is driving, and who is not. After the days of Snake, Shirley and Big, does it really matter?

I agree but opposite point of view... when I'm at BIR next August, I don't care who's driving... all the cars sound the same no matter who's in the seat.

And if Snake, Shirley, and Big were racing today, I'd still be rooting for Head, Wilk, Skuza, and whoever other underdog shows up.

After Force retires 10 years from now they'll be mentioning his name among Snake, Shirley, and Big... in the meantime, Ill be rooting against him and his team next year.

Probably watch alot less drags on tv (with two kids can't really find 6 hours per weekend to get away to watch it), but they'll still get my $300 for BIR.

If my brother gets a new gig, I plan on checking 4 Wide off my bucket list in addition to Houston, Dallas and Las Vegas.........

Sorry guys, that's how I feel.
Obviously looking at the grandstands, a one or two more feel the same way about it.
I might sound negative, for which I am sorry, but it's like drinking good whisky, and then being served something of less quality and being expected to like it.
Cheers.

It's not your opinion, you are certainly entitled to it. It's the fact that you have to take a good natured thread about what people are looking forward to and put a negative spin on it. If you are looking for thread to bash the NHRA or complain about the current state of racing, there are no shortage of them around here. Why do we have to send the positive threads in that direction too?

No kidding.

For the haters, go post in the other 100 topics about 1320 vs 1000.

Why do "we" have to head in a negative direction on a feel-good post?

Hmm.

I think I understand your underlying emotion here. But if "we" want to continue to have feel-good memories in the future, about what's happening now, someone, anyone ... better start paying attention to, and doing something about the downward spiral drag racing is in.

I love this time of year. And I wish I could barf out a bunch of only-slightly-realistic good cheer. But it's hard. And I sure as heck don't need to restate how I feel about the condition of things in drag racing.

So ... in the interest of staying positive, here's what I look forward to: The ghost of Wally Parks returns to Earth. Wally then is temporarily regenerated/reconstructed back to human condition. He then slides back behind the big desk in the front office, and saves us all from ourselves.

Seriously ... I love all you guys and gals. Even those among you who've ripped me a new one. Just want you to know that I bloviate and pontificate because I care about our sport. Have for over 45 years. And I'll continue barfing out my old-guy opinions until I drop.

Then, hopefully, I'll get to pull up a seat next to Wally (yep, he went back upstairs) and arm chair quarterback what's going on down here.

Happy Holidays to all.

Doc

I didn't realize that some of you guys are at the edge of your emotional cliff, and can't handle anything more horrifying than pretty sunflowers and daiseys waving in the breeze. Sorry to be so incredibly toxic in a time like this.
I simply remember the days when drag racing was actually drag racing, and not some nonsensical and unwatchable 3 second squirt. Some of you younger guys don't know it, but you got totally screwed out of your drag racing experience.
Thank God I was around and particated throughout the heart of the golden years, and for that, I am very thankful.
How's that for ending it on a positive note!

Get a grip guys, it will be ok....

My feelings aren't hurt. I asked what you were looking forward to and you answered. No problem. But that is just my take.

Well thanks Tom.
My post wasn't meant to be some sort of buzzkill, but simply what I hope to see again, and that's a real drag race so people may actually come back someday. So sorry that I can't kiss the asses of every driver to come along ad nausium like the rest of you "fans", that's just not me..
As for the rest of you happy people here, I toss out a presumed piece of meat, and you animals can't wait to run in and tear it into pieces while totally destroying anything positive, while claiming to be the ray of sunshine.
Who took this thread and made sure it went in a negative direction?
Wasn't me...

I suggest we let this little part go, and resume the thread without getting into any more arguements.
Merry Christmas.

and merry christmas to you too george.
and without much further a due.....
- i really like the summit camaros idea.'
- and wilk winning.... a lot
- and terry mcmillen at least making a final round
- and more success for mike neff, whatever his 2012 plans are
- and a major beer sponsor just because we could use one again.
(can use balloon bottles @ finish line instead of orange windsocks)

I wish Boston Brewing Company (Sam Adams) would sponsor someone. In the mid-west, I vote for Boulevard. Not major beer companies, but they are pretty good for the scale they run at.
