Big Steve! Nicely done!
That thing looks comfortable!

The open road, wind in your hair, bugs in your teeth, thunder coming out of the pipes......

VERY Cool! Man I love my bike more than anything. I have an '02 model. I have a pretty wild paint job on mine. A special sliver/blue metallic that you probably won't find anywhere else. Plus I have quite a bit of chrome.

It's a 26" Mongoose that I got from Wal- Mart!! :D :p :D

Someone's just had a mid-lifes crisis?:p

Seriously, have fun and ride defensively because no one, I mean no one pays attention or looks for bikes!

Nice bike. Now go take an MSF course so you don't end up like so many of the other guys that buy Harley's and then nearly kill themselves.

Steve, are you going to ride it over to Seattle for the race in July?

.......hey gang, just after I posted the picture of my new harley I was introduced to the excruciating pain caused by irritating the bursa sac in my knee, WOW is that painfull and then to get the flu on top of that, well let's just say I haven't been in the mood to post here until now. Thanks for all your comments, I posted that picture to see who also rides harleys here on the Mater, I love the old school look with 2008 technology.

Hey Chris, I don't know if I will ride it to the drags or not, but I will see you there.

Hey Rick, I don't think I'm having a mid-life crisis, but here's the deal at 50 years old I'm good with just going around the block at 40 mph and looking cool , whereas 30 years ago I would have rather gone 100 mph everywhere I went and thought that would be cool

Steve,
The MSF course is a good thing to look into. My wife took it and she was much more comfortable riding her softail after the class. I have ridden over 150,000 miles on my last two motorcycles. A 98 Softail Custom and a 01 Electraglide Ultra Classic. I have ridden cross country 3 times on the bagger and all across the west and Canada on the softail. I have just one piece of advice, treat every vehicle on the road like they are out to kill you. That way, you will never be surprised. If you are riding down the freeway in the number 2 lane, assume that the person in the fast lane is going to try to make the offramp across four lanes of traffic in front of you. As far as customizing goes, I don't really put any of that crap on my bikes anymore. If you decide to, look at the factory HD accessories. Their stuff generally fits right out of the box and is typically good quality. Alot of the aftermarket parts (and some HD stuff) is made in China. Poor fit, cheap plating etc.
If you are looking for a jacket, buy the best leather products that you can afford. Avoid the inexpensive imported $150 "biker style" jackets. Kerr Leathers makes top quality jackets and their chaps are the best in the business. There are alot of really nice "non leather" jackets available if you are not into leather. Check them out where the BMW and Gold Wing guys shop. They offer good protection and they have ventilation built into them.

...........hey Charles, thanks for the heads up. I don't know what the MSR program is but I did sleep in a Holiday Inn .......sorry I couldn't help it, I did take the STAR program and it had a road course, I don't know if that is the same thing or not.

Motorcycle Safety Foundation. Here is the website
Motorcycle Safety Foundation

I believe that they have several levels of classes depending on your experience. I've heard nothing but good things about their training. I should probably take a couple classes myself. Im sure there are alot of things for me to learn how to do (the right way)

.........hey Charles, I checked out the website and it sounds just like the STAR program up here in Idaho, which I took and passed and that's how I got my motorcyle endorsement. I now going to Kerr leather and check out thier jackets and chaps
