Re: dirt bikes?

The next NHRA race to aired on ESPN will be late because of the tape delayed coverage of the international nose picking championships.

I got screwed and pi$$ed. Missed 2 of 3 final rounds. Had to come here to get results. AAARRRGGGHHH!

I was shocked, I can see when a baseball games goes long or if something goes into extra innings/overtime. I understand. But guys doing tricks where they have a set time to do them. Not sure how that could run over that far.

I can live with it though because they did show all of our show, letting it run over into whatever should have started at 11

What a bunch of geezers, those guys kick ass on those bikes!! I also watched the entire show (Saturday and Sunday) I am by no means a spring chicken (i.e.geezer), but I gotta say I am absolutely amazed with what those guys are doing. Open your mind and your eyes, at least it is a motorsport for Gods sake. And the amount of Balls it takes to do it rival any fuel racer!! I am surprised they can sit on their bikes!! It only took a few minutes to finish up, which should have been enough time to change your depends.

I am not saying the riders are skill-less (far from it). What I don't like is MotoX looks like a contrived made for TV show. Where are the viewers, much less "fans"??? What are the qualifications to compete? Sounds too much like WWE for me.

Re: dirt bikes?

I like freestyle MX competitions. I was watching it anyway. Oh, and I noticed it when I set my DVR......I just added an hour to the NHRA telecast recording. It's really no big deal and it happens all the time.

I'm glad y'all feel better for venting, though. :)

anyone else who watched any portion of navy moto-x show notice
the almost non-existent live crowd at san diego stadium?

When the Moto-X ran over I thought I'll bet there is a thread on the Mater *****ing about this. And sure enough. But check it out, I watched the Moto-X which I wouldn't normally do, and thought it was ok. Moto-X was able to catch some new viewers by running over. So if the same happens for the NHRA show we too would have some new audience. Maybe not such a bad thing, ya think? And as far as recording the show, come on, we all know to set the timer for an hour longer than the schedule calls for.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for those guys; my brother competed for Team Yamaha on the AMA 125cc SuperCross series back in the 80's. Getting them up in the air is easy; coming back down is the tough part.... not to mention those insane tricks they pull off up there.

Did you see the seats on those bikes? Yeeeooowzers! It was like 1/2 inch thick!! (Granted, they're not sitting very much)... probably quite comfortable I guess in comparison to a typical painted carbon fiber seat on a PSMX; but PSMX's don't bounce like that!!!

O, and since we're nitpicking ESPN..... did you catch the F-bombs heard on the air during that as well???

A Pacific Time Zone race ... they may not have quite been done at the track at 5 p.m. pacific (8 p.m. eastern) when the show started and ESPN knows this and probably let the Moto X run over to give the crew editing the NHRA show a little time to get it done and ready for broadcast.

An oil down, a wreck (even in the Sportsman classes) or any other delay is likely what held up the start of the coverage.

When I go to the race here at Pacific Raceways, I often am leaving the track after the final rounds on Sunday right about the same time the coverage is starting, they don't give them a lot of turn around time with virtually no buffer if there's any kind of delay in the event at the track.

So, as much as it pisses y'all off, they use the events that are on prior that might run long as a buffer for these West Coast events.

Luckily I had gotten home from the Mariners game in time to set the DVR to record the replay of the Moto X event after the race since it ran over into the replay.

So, yes, set it to start 30 minutes early and run at least 30 minutes long if you can. Especially for a West Coast race.

Re: dirt bikes?

As far as I am concerned, when you are dealing with a sports network, you are always going to have overruns. How often do sporting events run on the intended schedule? And ESPN did extend our coverage. And I forgot to run my DVR longer, so I missed the final rounds.....ooooops.

I agree that I hate it when a show runs long, but at least it was something decent to watch instead of little league or underwater basket weaving championships. :)

Amen, brother = and we got to see Evel's widow hand out a special Harley live on national TV! I don't care who you are; or what sport you are in or may follow....That was friggin' cool!

Nate didn't even know that was the prize....or even that there was a prize! Priceless.....he and 'Twitch' were just going for bragging rights.....and a medal! :D

Fully 100% agree with everything you said. They get more and more extreme every year...and are really pushing the envelope hard right now. High jump was sick, these guys are dropping straight back down to the ground from 35 feet....bangin their noggins on the bars...and leaving the room like Elvis.
Drag Racing will ALWAYS be in my heart and soul, but it's hard not to be honest and atleast give these kids the space to express themselves.
Like somebody else said....most of those guy's probably could climb in a Fueler and figure the beast out with some time.......but I don't know a single driver in drag racing that's gonna jump on MotoX bike and start doing 130 foot long back flips without some serious injuries. JMHO.

And an opinion that rocks Mike.

HOW do you NOT get into it..even if it means 18 min late on our show..jeez. But the same people that complain about this will complain when it's 4 min late..pfft.

I enjoyed the bikes..and straight into drag racing.
