Hurricane Harvey and Baytown

This is well down the list of importance for the people in the Houston area, but out of curiosity has the Baytown track suffered much damage? Any reports of how much rain has fallen near the track specifically?

I am in Katy and we have had 27 inches and it's still raining. Water is everywhere, the neighborhoods not near the bayous or rivers are holding up well. It will be days before we know the true extent of the damage.

To answer your specific question, HRP/RPR is not in a major watershed area. I looked at the USGS gauge height graph for goose creek in Baytown (the nearest tributary with a automated monitoring) and there is no issue there. From downtown Houston, to the north and west there are major watersheds with tons of issues. Like Paul we have gotten over 20 inches of rain, but I live far north at nearly 200 feet of elevation ... our water goes downhill fast. This is going to be a bad one. I don't see how you can predict stuff like this ...

I have family in College Station, about 90 Miles north of Houston. They have been getting a lot of rain, but no flooding. They're kinda on the outskirts of the storm. Do have some rivers in the area that are rising a bit. St Joe's hospital in Bryan has some patients from Houston, so will not be surprised that towns in Texas will be getting patients from Houston area. There is a big medical center in Galveston but haven't heard much about it. God bless these folks & keep them safe.
