How low will they go??? Q2 is going to be good!

Any theories as to why Anderson is clicking it early?

Greg Anderson amits that he's shutoff early on all of his qualifying runs in an attempt to qalify opposite pts leader Allen Johnson

The amazing part is, they were 4 and 5, and destined for a round 2 meeting, until Jason just went low and bumped Allen to the other side of the field. Allen Johnson vs Vincent Nobile round 1 could be tough. Erica and Connolly could meet in the semis. Conolly and Allen Johnson could be round 2. Greg Anderson and Jason Line could be the semis on the other side.

Allen should be able to handle Vincent because his car is quicker. It's not quicker than Connolly's, though, and neither is he quicker. That race, if it happens, is too close to call.

It's Line's race to lose, he's got 2-3 hundredths on the field, but I'm betting someone with more consistent RT's will take him, probably Erica or Dave, in the final.

Greg was .001 quicker to the 1,000ft mark than Jason was in the 4th session. Greg shut off early. He'd actually have the better car i'd say.

And Dave Grubnic ties the quickest time in history and a stunning 2.98 eight mile and Doug Kalitta hits 331mph! Add Morgan Lucas with a 3.73 and 330.96 mph. Currently 8 drivers have a backup for a new national record.

someone will run quicker than 3.728 or grubby will back it up for the record.

No. Mike Smith, #16 at 4.20, is slower than Pomona 2, 2011, where the bump was 4.19. There are probably others as quick or quicker, I didn't look.

Toss Smith and the rest are 4.12 or under. Pretty stout.

anybody else planning on be there monday????

Want company on the drive Barry? I just got back to New York from Reading, in hope Sunday would rain out and I could go back Monday to see an all time race day. Please rain out Sunday!!! Haha.

Fingers are crossed for today. There's a light band of showers getting ready to roll through the area. I am dressed like I am going hunting, but hopefully I will stay warm and the wet stuff stays away. If they run today it will be quick.

3.722 Antron. Maple Grove is king again,

E-Town goes back into the shadows. They'll only be the fastest for non-NHRA Stuff this weekend at the Shakedown when the 10.5 Racers lower the boom and pro mod racers run roughshod.

Quickest FC field - 4.134 Charlotte 2008

But the average qualifying time is 4.061...So let me rephrase my question: Is this the field with the quickest qualifying average?

I'm in Brooklyn - Mckibbin Street (Just off Graham Ave ) Williamsburg/Bushwick area. I'm happy to put in for gas both there and back. The conditions tomorrow are going to be spectacular!!

You guys have fun. I will hopefully be watching on ESPN3 while flying home. It has been a great weekend of racing.

Thanks Paul - it sure has been a great weekend of racing, one of the best I've seen in a long time. Hopefully the cars can get down the track tomorrow - I think they'll go quick again, conditions look great. Safe travels home mate.

Mike

Let's put it this way. Every car left in Top Fuel and Pro Stock have back ups for potential records. Top Fuel a minimum of 3.706 and Pro Stock a minimum of 6.461. Some can go quicker. Antron could back up a 3.685 and the Summit cars can go as low as 6.41!

Funny Car still has Neff and Beckman with current backups. Neff can go 3.977 and Beckman could back up all the way to a 3.946!

The race win is very important, but if the conditions are there, a LOT of these guys need the bonus points!
