How does this impact NHRA long-term?

Story I was told by a very reliable source who is one of the main guys at IHRA is at the beginning of the season Darrel put 300 mil in an account and said make it happen. Dont think money is or will be an issue
I don't think money is an issue. People are turning heads really quick and comparing him to Evan Knoll. This guy has an interest in motorsports and wants to offer another option for racers who don't have 3-5 million to be competitve. Look at Del Worsham who wants to go out and race, have fun doing it and know he has a chance to win. Unlike NHRA where if you're Not the big 3, the chances of you winning is slim to none! Why waste your money trying let alone poor T.V. coverage showing the sponsors what you have to offer.

Lots more families than at Vegas race.
Yeah because who brings a family to Vegas? Unfortunately the Vegas track really isn’t supported by the locals. The Vegas attendance is probably has the highest percentage of tourists than any other national event. I’ve been to every Vegas national event (50 of them) and from the people I have met and talked to, it’s been 90% non locals. I’ve met many from other countries including Canada, Japan, England, Philippines and Australia.

I feel like this story isn't getting enough attention. Maybe it is somewhere? I'm not surprised by the outcome though.
I don’t know why anyone would build a car for the new TAFC Blown Nitro combination without the intent of running the big show in the near future. Maybe it’s a little cheaper than a big show car but the payouts are 90% less. You’re better off just running a big show car and going to events where there are only 17 or 18 cars. You would get more for not qualifying than winning TAFC. Unfortunately the professional drag racing model isn’t profitable no matter where or what class you race.

The blown nitro tafc and the blown nitro tad is someone's plan for selling used nitro parts and nhra bought into the idea. Stick a fork in those classes If you want old blown nitro there are plenty places to go.

Not that it changes anything, but I think Will Martin was referring to his blown alky car operation that he ran, and now has decided to go IHRA Fuel FC.

Another thought, the lower budget/beginner teams that need testing runs and seat time.
Would you rather go to a nearby track, or go to a track that's been prepared and will pay for your testing like IHRA at one of their National races?
I'd go the IHRA route.
Also I'm sure you're gonna get tips from the other participants.

That's what the Scrappers and Shawn Reed teams did earlier this year.

Evan Knoll had an interest in drag racing and wanted to offer an alternative to racers. The difference is that Knoll tried to do it with other people's money.
