How does NHRA decide which classes race at which national events? (5 Viewers)

When the schedule is made, how is it decided where PSM, PM, top alcohol, TD or TS, or other occassional classes like MMPS or TF bikes are included in a race?

A lot of different factors. Sponsors and the tracks themselves can request specific classes, also if a class has raced there a lot in the past they may leave them off the schedule in favor of something different. Past participation and room in the facility to accommodate certain classes also comes into play.

probably many different variables. i do like how some events are much smaller by design based on available
space and days of event.

I noticed Firebird never runs T/AD & TA/FC, probably because the Div 7 races are usually before the National.

They used to all the way into the late 90’s. I thought with the Las Vegas track opening in 2000, it was easier to have them there because they had so much more space. Division 7 had four Alky national events with two at Pomona and two in Vegas.

The Michigan race has the four pro classes, both alky classes, TS and factory stock. I’m guessing pit space is the factor for the limited classes.
