Fair enough, Timmah. Kinda selfish of me to not remember there are hockey fans among the maters. I was just kinda bummed after watching nearly 4 hours of drivel during a rain that would obviously cancel the Nascar truck race, and changed to the Houston coverage and found it was gonna be delayed again--my apologies---wouldn't it be nice if they would have moved the Houston coverage over in place of the 75th story of the Martinsville hot dogs? Then everyone (except I guess the Nascar fans who like to watch it rain and talk about $2 hot dogs) could be happy! :D

Well, by golly, that's a first for ESPN 2! I've seen our coverage get shortened because of late starts caused by a multitude of interesting  sports going long, but I do believe this is the first time that we got our coverage cut off before the time it was scheduled to end! Yeah, I know I shouldn't be complaining about ESPN 2 again, but man, that was a drag. One of the few racing events that wasn't rained out Fri or Sat and practically no coverage....well, at least they found time to slip in that all-important John Force interview:D

You a soccer fan too, Timmah?:p

I assume 1 PM not 1 AM ?
Nope, Paul, I think it is 1 AM, (midnight here in the central time zone) which by the way, appears to be in the middle of a women's basketball game scheduled to go to 12:30 am central...gonna make it tough to set the dvr for that one...

LOL, wow; for once I can't complain! Aside from drag racing, NCAA Hockey is the other half of my life. :o
(and Tim - Denver is eliminated; but Air Force is in double overtime)

My wife walked in saw and when she realized I had an Ohio state anything on TV she was looking for the cell phone to call Bukeye Teri....lol

It stinks but its the nature of live sports that things will run over, I was surprised though that ESPN2 was that far off on scheduling for a hockey game. Hockey is one of the more consistant sports when it comes to times. At race time there was still over 16min left in the period.

According to the crawler they were going to show it at 1pm today

i believe espn2 does a horrendous job at scheduling. if a hockey game is going to take 3 hours, then schedule the damn thing for 3 hours, not 2 and a half and let it run over then run banners underneath saying basically "hey nhra fans, you're screwed...please tune in tomorrow and keep your fingers crossed that we have programming like cheerleading or a spelling bee that we can scrap and plop nhra into."

It was scheduled for two hours when I set it to record, but when I checked to make sure I had it set yesterday afternoon it had been shortened to one hour in the program guide.

but seriously, last night was the first time I've seen any qualifying this season, and that was by accident... was checking history channel when I sat down to eat and really didn't want to watch Pearl Harbor again... so I moved up one channel to see what basketball game was playing and it was like one minute left in the hockey game... :o

I see I haven't missed much.

d'kid

Tim, since you're a hockey man maybe you can answer why the goalie was out of play. I must say it was fun to watch and fast.
hi jesse!

Well i did not get to see the play you are speaking about, but if it was near the end of the game, and one team was behind...the trailing team will sometimes 'pull the goalie'. This leaves their net unprotected, but provides them with an extra 'attacker' to attempt to score.
I guess in drag racing terms, its like deep staging. Sure it might give you a bit of advantage but you risk red lighting.

Todays hockey tip has been brought to you by, the NHL...another organization that gets no love from the mainstream.

But our sport will preempt cheerleading today:) i wonder if the cheerleading message boards are going nuts today about their sport being preempted by drag racing today?

Now THAT'S and interesting thought Timmah! I myself was just wondering if Baseball Tonight (being broadcast in the day....go figure...) ever runs long? If it ever has, it probably will today also!:D
