None of the cars ran as strongly as you would see them run throughout the year here, as it is the middle of summer in oz, and humidity is sky high, and the weather pattern changes quickly.
The majority of the cars down here are consistent 4.50-4.60 cars, but as you can see, a lot of struggles in qualifying.
Apparently on the first day, the reason for a slight delay is they were waiting for the track temp to dip below 140F before the fuel cars could go racing
Best way to describe it is like St.Louis conditions. Bring your hot weather tune up and race the conditions. I got a feeling a string of 4.60s may be all you need to win this race.
On a side note, Gary Densham's car and full crew arrived in Brisbane yesterday and have begun preparations for this Friday/Saturday's first of two shows (the next is Jan16/17) at beautiful Willowbank Raceway, west of Brisbane - Willowbank Raceway
It would be great to bring down NHRA teams during the cooler months down here, but it's in the middle of the US season. The summer months, although far more fickle weather (tropical weather) is a big draw card to start the year for spectators here.
Im hoping Hillary takes the race out today. It sounds like it may be her last race in a while, and to take the Kalitta Memorial trophy back to Team Kalitta would be the best icing on the cake for 08.
