Hernandez Looking to Extend Points Lead in Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (May 31, 2007) - A full month since the last Flowmaster ADRL racing event, Josh Hernandez is anxious to get back behind the wheel of the AMS/Rage '57 Chevy Belair at this weekend's AMS Staff Leasing Summer Drags in Huntsville, Alabama.

"It's just been too long," Hernandez said. "The last ADRL race was a blur for me because I was actually running two events that weekend, so I had very little time to do anything but get in and out of the car."

Hernandez won an unprecedented two events in two different drag racing series in two states in that weekend, taking the trophies in both the AMS Pro Mod Challenge win in Madison, Ill. and the rain-delayed ADRL 2006 World Final crown in Valdosta, Ga.

"I'm looking forward to racing in Huntsville again, although this year I hope I can stay out of the corn field," he laughed. During last year's event, Hernandez’ chutes failed to deploy after one of his qualifying runs and drove past the shut-down area into the field at the end of the track.

"I'm sure we'll be able to put on a really good show for all of the fans, Dave Wood and the rest of the folks from AMS. Since this is their race, I know there will be plenty of folks from the home office on hand to take in the races."

Currently leading the points chase in the Pro Extreme Battle for the Belts, Hernandez is hoping to extend his lead this weekend- now less than two round wins ahead of Mike Bell.

Following open testing throughout Friday, action in Pro Extreme gets under way Friday evening with a single qualifying session at 8 p.m. (local time). Two more qualifying sessions on Saturday will determine the 16-car fields for Saturday evening's
eliminations.
