Now on speed we get to watch Pimp My Ride. It was bad enough with Tow Trucks and that Castro guy in How to ghetto a ride, now this. I thought Speed meant GO FAST things.

MTV used to mean music television too. Seems several channels have lost their way trying to follow their "target advertising group". I'd rather see tapes of old races and racing themed movies than most of the crap speed shows now.

That tow truck show did it for me.I used to watch speed (aka NASCAR channel)a lot.Now I hardly ever switch to it.I do like Pass Time & that's one of the few.

I enjoy Wrecked myself. My dad owns a towing service with 15 trucks so I can get into it.

BTW, the Speed folks here in Charlotte want you to make sure you call it "SPEED", not Speed TV, or Speed Channel. Gimme a break.

Speed Channel is worth having just to watch Barrett-Jackson, Pinks-All Out, Wrecked, and Pass Time. And IHRA about 3 times a year.

It's obvious their ratings have been going down, so they change. Look at History channel and "Gangland", or Discovery and "Deadliest Catch". It's all about ratings.

I kind of like Wrecked myself. Love Passtime and Pinks All Out although I find Pinks Alloutakes a bit frustrating to watch. (The fake PA announcer thing is really irritating.) (Also, why is it that at any event I go to these days, they don't think you're getting into the thing unless you're bellowing at the top of your lungs like a drunken idiot???)

They had a Pimp My Ride marathon last night but then TV in general was really bad last night.

Speed actually gets back to business this coming weekend with the ARCA Series. They have Bud Shootout practice on too but I'll never understand why they televise that.

Was talking to my son about "Pimp My Ride.' Apparently, from what he's read, the vast majority of the cars reworked (And not always very well, IMHO.) on the show end up having all of the new parts such as stereos, speaker systems, amps, video monitors, wheels and tires stripped off the car and sold.

I'm a big Pass Time fan and Pinks All Out fan but I realise they are trying to get viewers from different venues to watch Speed for ratings.

That is not necessarily bad news for our sport since the possibility of attracting fans from one sport to another exists , " WHEN IT'S ON THE BOOB TUBE ".
On Pass Time I find wagering along with the others on times with the little info given is really fun.
It's easy to pick up on the excitement of the drivers on the Pinks all out show and after the first season they now have a selection process to try out at Dallas.
Too many cars showing up so they limit it to about 400 I think.
Pinks All Out is filming in Ennis March 21 st and as usual I'm out of town !

Would I ? Hell's yeah, the " Great White " on TV " ! My Grand kids would go ballistic.

I used to love the offseason on Speed ... they would show replays of all the FIA GT, British Touring Cars (BTCC), German Touring Cars (DTM), Porsche Super Cup, Australian V8 Supercars from the past season. This year, I only saw the Porsche Super Cup races. I really miss the DTM, I love the Audis versus the Mercedes and the drivers are all top shelf (Mika Hakkinen, Heinz Harald Frentzen, Jean Alesi, Tom Kristensen, Rinaldo Capello, Christian Abt and the master himself Bernd Schneider) and all the tracks are fantastic drivers circuits (Nurburgring, Zandvoort, A1 ring and Hockenheim).

For those that love F1 like I do ... the contracts are not signed and Speed is the only channel that makes sense. This could be the year that we get no F1 on TV in the US.

You mean to say they were unpimped?

that show spawned my favoite series of VW commercials

Heck, I even liked watching Rally... real 'street' racing... okay, trail racing...

d'kid

Speed didn't renew the WRC several years ago. Those guys are phenomenal. This year, however, that series will be WAY down.

You think drag racers have a hard time keeping a ride ... they couldn't find a spot for Colin McRae a few years ago unless he brought a lot of cash. At the time, McRae was the winningest driver EVER in the WRC may he rest in peace.
