Re: How About That Tim Wilkerson...

Just got off phone from their pit, they are stoked!!!!!! Great Job Tim and CREW, just need to go some rounds tomorrow, (hey espn how about a little coverage) not complaining just wishing!!!!!!!!!!

I think it means quite a bit. You just saw the Force team go 1-2 and then Wilk puts them all back a spot. Showdown $$ and Points too!

T, you hit the nail on head there, you have been there and done that (worked you tail off) those guys work hard for Tim, and as he said on his interview he appreciates them, the qualifing bonus, Skoal shootout points, and maybe the Full throttle award, it all is important, and there is no body any eager then Tim wanting to go rounds and win this thing from the pole, as in past years it is tough.

Looks like a little lurking in the Snake's pits doesn't hurt!

Wilk had all the basics before and it looks like a little extra info has really helped him with consistency!!;)

YEA!!!
And he said at the top end that he was low on some parts and Snake's guys helped him out!!!
Let's go rounds tomorrow!!!

Maybe in your eyes, but it means alot for the kids that work their tails off on that car.

I bet you a dime to donuts Wilk would rather be 16th and win the event than qualify #1! ;)

I was at Motel 6 in San Dimas for Pomona were Wilkerson & crew always stay and I'm here to tell you they ain't kids who work on that car!
He has one that looked like a kid the rest are older. ;)

Great to see they're doing well again. I hope it continues all year long. Wouldn't it be cool as heck to see an independent guy win the championship?

Bob just courious, have you ever turned a wrench on a car or just making comments from the peanut gallery?

Good Question. Lets see, an independent with a budget 1/5th that of any Force car bumps two of them down a spot in qualifying. That is pretty impressive in anybody's f**king book. I know that winning is game here, but after knowing Tim for quite a few years I can say there is nobody who does more with less than AA/FC 347! They recycle other's parts, very seldom test, have a very small crew and are running the oldest body in the field yet Bob comes up with the "doesn't mean anything if you don't win comment". It doesn't sound like he has had to use laundry detergent to get the gear lube out of his hair or raced all weekend then towed all night to get to work on Monday but I could be wrong.

As Mark said, there a lot at stake and qualifying #1 is huge for those guys.

As far as the age of the group, four of those guys are in their 20's and then add Daniel and Kevin into the mix after they get out of school.

A couple thoughts...

1. Age is relative. I don't care how old someone is, if they're living their dream, then I bet they feel like kids - I know I would!

2. Qualifying number 1 is awesome - ESPECIALLY given his budget and who he drove around to do it - Force & Neff.

3. There may be guys and gals on the tour who are just as classy as Tim, but nobody has more class than he does, that's for sure. I've seen him interact with fans at numerous events, including my daughter, and he's a class act all the way.

4. I hope he goes on to win the whole thing today! Go Wilk!!

For a pro team no!
Have I turned wrenches in my life yes I have! Why are you so concerned with my comments?
I bet you if you spoke to any competitor out there he would say the same thing! Wilkerson maybe a single car team but last I checked he has a sponsor on the side of that car the same sponsor for a few years now!
Personally I'm not that surprised by their performance they are very capable and could win the event with a little luck...
