The Colbalt is based on an *OPEL* I guess the Hummer is based off the *MOON WALKER*.

Actually the G35 is a JDM Nissan Skyline and the Fairlady/350Z is a different car

Unless it has a M240G/B a MK19 or M2 and CARC paint a hummer is not a truck, its a station wagon for those married with kids trying to hold on to their single days. Trucks stopped being trucks when you could no longer hose out the interior because you'd damage the leather and CD.

GM is not talking about getting rid of trucks. They are planning to cut production to meet current reduced demand. The only thing they are thinking about dropping is the Hummer.
So if you want or need a truck, you will still be able to buy one.

More money than common sense explains those. Even if you really had to have one of those the top of the line Chevy and ford fully loaded were basically the same vehicle for thousands less, but some folks are really hung up on labels and name brands

Not sure how you made the leap to Chevy-Opel, but it does further illustrate my point about the prevalence of rebadging.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. The Saturn had the plastic body panels and the Isuzu had the Lotus suspension, but they had the same engine, tranny, wheelbase, etc etc. and parts for the Geo Storm/Isuzu Impulse/Saturn SC1 are interchangeable to a very high percentage.
There is not a bespoke design by Saturn that I know of ... they have always shared platforms with other models in the GM family ...

Wow, none of mine have ever had leather or cd players... they get used. Horses, hay, building supplies, the works. If it looks like a truck, it better be able to act like a truck around here or it will be dead, gone or laughed at.
Of course, I may re-think the cd player part.

I did state in the original post HUMMERS AND TRUCKS, i do remember one time after race at Byron Raceway we had a small party and i had to use car wash hose in my Suburban, does that qualify. HaHa

I always thought the SC1 looked a lot like my Impulse. In fact, some airport parking shuttle drivers have mistaken it for a Saturn.
I assume that the Lotus suspension wasn't carried over to either the GEO or the Saturn. Too bad, because that is what really sold me on the Impulse. When I first test drove it, I didn't know a regular street car could handle that well. Give me a winding mountain road and the 5-speed tranny, and I'm having fun driving! The only drawback to that suspension is, there's so much stuff there, you have to pull the engine to change the oil pan gasket.

I feel the same way, but there are a lot of "trucks" and "SUV" out there that are just glorified Station Wagons/mini vans and the only work they're doing is hauling kids to soccer practice and groceries.

The mandated fuel CAFE milages and now fuel prices are causing a family of six to ride in a sardine can.
I found out yesterday listening to Senator Larry Craig speak on CSPAN 2 that there is not only plenty of oil off So Cal coast but of course we are not aloud to drill it at all.

The state allows it and drilling goes on inside the three mile state boundary.
Let me see drilling is dirty business outside the three mile limit in Federal Waters but it's OK inside three mile limit???
But storms will destroy rigs and platforms causing polution!!
Katrina damaged or destroyed over 1,000 rigs and platforms in the Gulf of Mexico and where was the polution?
Hey dumb Arses in Congress you guys insisted in the 1972 clean water act and even more so in the 1990 clean water bill that triple safety systems be in place to prevent it.
Using common or uncommon sense oil company's shut down operations ahead of the storms.
It interrupts supplies and costs a lot of money but thats the price of energy production in modern America.
See the problem with passing 20,000 laws [ bills ] no one knows what the hells laws we even have.
That's why trucks and SUV's are biting the dust.
You can blame the " not in my backyards" the " Environmentalists " and the " Congress " who are taking better care of their own interests rather than the country's.
The higher energy prices always limit the use of gas guzzlers anyway thats common sense.

You could very well be correct. I just remember seeing the first generation Saturns in the dealer showroom as a rolling chassis without any body panels. I didn't think you could build a roller on the other cars without at least the rear quarter panels.
I also had one of those cars and if parts were interchangeable, none of the parts stores I went to knew it. Anyway, it's not worth arguing about.

Here you will often see that soccer mom or other person driving that H1-H2-H3 or whatever with a cell phone pasted to one ear and thinking nothing about pulling slowly out into much faster moving traffic. And GOD forbid that they should have to actually park like they are supposed to or back the thing up, they have no idea what size they really are.
Folks, if you are going to drive with you cellphone, use hands free devices. But especially, puh-leeze, learn how to actually drive those wheels. If you can't really drive it, don't know what it is capable of or even what size it is, you shouldn't be in it.
