gainesville attendance

watching yesterday the spectator side bleachers on top end seemed
very empty......top end pit side seemed moderately empty.
gainesville is always well attended, the same as others, and as other
venues have shown recently, their numbers are down.
anyone who was there care to comment?

Friday and Saturday were real good, at least from the couple of glimpses I took up towards the stands. Sunday is always the worst attended day it seems like. The tickets are more expensive, and you see fewer runs. As a fan, I would rather go on qualifying days if I was only able to go one day.

I went Friday. It was pretty full. People do not have the money here in Florida right now to splurge on things so money is tight.

There was a lot of empty seats at the Nascar race in Bristol yesterday and I'm curious to see what the turnout is this weekend at California Speedway.

One thing I have always noticed about pics people post from Gainesville is the 6 deep along the fences. Very impressive.

This time I noticed (from video) there was plenty of space and maybe 2 deep.

Well it was pretty well attended when I was there but I did notice that Sunday wasn't as full. Still a good weekend though.

Seeemed as full as always to me.. TEC was rather empty to me though. Saturday was PACKED.

I was only there on Saturday and it was pretty crowded but not anywhere near as crowded as in the past. If Sunday was lower in attendance, then I have to agree with Mike Minnick, as I could only go on one day and I wanted to see the most cars possible, so Sunday is out. I would have gone Friday if it had worked out as the ticket prices are considerably lower on Friday than Saturday and you get the same show. ;) Money is still tight in our household.

I have been to just about every major race, Indy, Pomona, Dallas, Houston, etc...And all the times I went to Gainesville from '02-'10 the crowds there dwarfed all the other tracks! Don't believe me....try getting in there at 8AM on a Sat/Sun! It's an Abortion sitting in that traffic!

I saw on facebook that it cost 50.00 for event parking at the NASCAR race and of course the admission to get in is pretty high too I would imagine. I think both NASCAR and NHRA need to look at their demographics and put themselves in the shoes of the average family that are looking for family outings that are affordable. I know that's who I would target. The theme at our annual indoor show is "Affordable Family Fun" and it works. You want less of something charge more.

I don't know how much tickets cost last year for the California Nascar race because I got mine for free, but I do remember that the parking was free at the track. Someone is bringing me a couple of tickets tomorrow for the race this weekend so I will look and see if they have a price on them.

Gainesville will always be a big draw. 08-09 seemed to have the biggest crowds in the last decade. Regardless, the crowd will always be up to par in gville.:)

I have a heck of a farmers tan from this weekend btw.:D

I NEVER have a problem getting in, or out of Gainesville Raceway.

Observation from the TEC: I noticed the crowd being super-deep at the fence for the first session on Saturday, with way less for the second. Do people just come to watch the first session, or is it those moron's screaming into the mics during down-times, playing their STUPID GAMES?

From my top-row view, the TEC was far from full either Saturday, or Sunday.

If people are tight on cash, it's no wonder the TEC seats are not full, as it's a committment for the entire weekend, at least it is when we buy them for Indy. So if you plan on going for at least 3 days, TEC is the way to go. But as many have said, these days people are choosing just one day, so it makes sense to want to get the best bang for the buck (i.e. the most cars/runs) and do a Friday or Saturday. Still, given the economy, this weekend looked to be a success.

Methinks if NHRA were to lower the ticket price for the TEC to something around $299. for 4 days they would put more @$$es in the seats.
