I heard the current owners are d!cks and won't sell it without the circle track. It's too good of a facility to let it sit there and rot.

Why would they, the grounds inside the oval are used for the sportsman guys during national events,

Last info I heard
:::Drag Racing Online::: Agent 1320 - 7/28/2011

St. Louis track could be open in 2012. NHRA would have October race
On the NHRA front there is a lot of talk about the Gateway Raceway track at St. Louis, formerly owned by Dover Entertainment, re-opening soon. The Agent talked to Rod Wolter, who is helping to facilitate the purchase of the track, who said the purchase is moving along, but slowly.

There are three different owners of land parcels the facility sits on who have to be dealt with and even when that issue is done it will take a considerable amount of time to refurbish and re-open the track.
What is verifiable is that there’s a tentative agreement (nothing is signed) with the NHRA and the potential new owners of the facility for an NHRA national event to return to the St. Louis track in October of 2012. [07/28/11]

Actually they do use part of the "roundy round" track as a spectator parking lot during NHRA national events. Got any other good ideas?

Really, just refurbish it and put it back on the schedule. It needs owners that care, like Bruton Smith or the Guys that bought Moroso (now Palm Beach Raceway).
