Foto Friday - McEwen & Prudhomme

Wow! Thanks for sharing these. I am just loving seeing pictures of the cars I couldn't wait to see in the pages of the new HOT ROD magazine!

I had to sort through my Mongoose and Snake collection to get all the nice ones ready to upload. I'll be posting in a sort of chronological order, but I know there's a lot of folks that were either influenced by these two, or became interested in drag racing due to the Hot Wheels toys. I was a very lucky guy as my home track was Fremont, and I got to see the best cars that would come to the sea level track for good numbers. So many good cars were either based near the track, or would gladly travel to it. From all of their Hot Wheel incarnations to their later cars, these two guys were always amongst my favorites. In fact, my avatar is me in my home made (thanks Mom!) Hot Wheels uniform in the Fremont pits 1972. By then, I had been to many races, and had caught the Nitro disease. I pestered just about every team, and also learned to stay clear of hard working crews. There was nothing like being a pit brat! Anyway, I'll post different themes every Friday, but this one will be one of my favorites.

Yup...pretty sure, although some match racers owned a couple of duplicate cars to run different races, I think that was his seat. Fremont had that plywood tunnel which wrapped around the bleach box so fans on the tower side could get to the pit side. If you were caught in that tunnel when a fueler fired up, or began it's burn out, I can't stress enough the rattling noise that would somehow make a Nitro car sound more dangerous. Good times.

This shot (below) of the Snake III Black 'Cuda at Ontario is just about my favorite photo of any race car ever. It seems to relay the speed and power better than most photos. Brilliant shot.

I'll be uploading more Wildlife photos through the next day or two.
