Force quote about breaking...

After he broke against Ashley in the finals, JF appeared to say something about the media types bringing the cameras around to verify that he broke so there wouldn't be any $#%$$# Did I hear that wrong or was he a bit perturbed. Of course, he just broke in the finals of the Big Go, but did someone from the media say something that hacked him off?:)

He was PO'd about breaking, and was probably thinking that there'd be all kinds of speculation about how he lost to teamates two years in a row.

Now, why would there be any speculation about that?

Maybe because this time losing against Ashley would not benefit him, his sponsors, or getting another team into the countdown?????

Remember guys...Force is in it THIS YEAR FOR HIM TO WIN... if you think he'll hand the title to Ashley because she is his daughter....think again. Force is COMMITTED to winning that number 15....

My wife and I had the same discussion on Monday, if he was giving to Ashley for her second in a row at Indy or he'd fight for the win to help in HIS Championship points. I figured it was the first race in the countdown and John is quite a bit higher in the points, so they'd both be racing.

So would you agree no matter what the results were in the final round at Indy vs. Ashley, John was in a NO WIN situation in the court of public opinion?

Agreed, Tim. That was the conclusion we came to. Either way someone can say he tossed a race. Just depends on how you look at/spin it.

I guess the sarcasm was lost on some people. That's what the smiley was for.
I mean, geez, it's not like Force has never taken a dive for a team mate.

This opinion court says that if John told Ashley prior to the final round that he expected her to toss the race to him, she would have handed him the keys and told him to go have sex with a goat. Therefore, if John had won, say, 4.13-4.14 in a good close race, we wouldn't be having these discussions.

You can black-helicopter this thing to death but I still say the reasons for John wanting to win far outweigh any advantage that he (or Ashley) would gain by rigging the race. The countdown deal in 2009? Pretty obvious. This race? I have no facts but I'll say flat out, no way.

Have you noticed that this thread took a complete 180 deg? I have a question maybe you can answer. Why do we care if he gave it away or not?

Back to answer post #1, yes, he did say something about not wanting anyone to touch that car because he did not want the same BS as last year. I have it recorded but I haven't reviewed it to see EXACTLY what he said.

Agreed, conspiracy theorists will even battle over why water is wet, so it's moot to speculate whether or not JF threw the race. I was just wondering if anyone heard the comment about the teardown that would take place and whether or not anyone heard what was or was not found. :)

Force is committed to getting a new deal with Castrol done. Having both those cars in the Finals was a good thing for that. Having Ashley win, was a bonus.

Do I think John gave her the race? Yes. Do I care if he did? Nope. Doesn't affect me in any way.

I'll check the tape and get back with ya Paul.

Before the telecast ended, they showed a picture of John Force's throttle cable linkage and indicated that it broke.
John breaks a lot of throttle cables.
Cheers,
Ed
See? Something for everybody.

if instinct tells you water is frozen, then no, it is not wet ;)

perceive or deceive?
don't really care what john did or didn't do - i'll never know the truth,
this year or last, nor will 99.9% of us.

happy ashley got winner's interview sans father.
john doesn't have to be in every interview with ashley and robert to
have my respect for campaigning three top notch teams; in fact
i prefer he wasn't.........that being said, i think it would be really cool
to see john win another championship; in fact if he did/does, with his
other daughters racing already, i think john would step out of the
driver's seat....................only if he wins it all though.

I have it recorded but I haven't reviewed it to see EXACTLY what he said.

ESPN2's gal (forget her name) did a finish-line interview with Force (John), and he said this:

" I dunno - it was haulin' ass - all of a sudden it just sort of 'barked', like a cam broke or something....DON'T NOBODY TOUCH ANY OF THIS, I want the cameras to see it. I don't want to listen to any BS".

Personally I DO care about whether or not the race was tossed, not that it has any direct effect on anything I might do, one way or another. I understand team orders, "that's racing", "you'd do the same thing under the circumstances", and so on. I still think it sucks. I can remember when Angelle Sampey (Savoie?) refused to even stage against her teammate in a final round, for fear that she'd knock him out of the points chase. Her cred went from 100 to 0 in about 15 seconds.

Force brings lots of controversy on himself and I've said before I think he likes it - to a point. Look at all the PR the T-Ped deal generated. Nothing like a heated rivalry to get ratings up and going. But as for me personally, if that race last week was a straight-up deal, and I honestly believe it was, I want to see Ashley glory in her accomplishment without the stain of a thrown race hanging over her head.

His car was not on par with Ashley's anyway, he would have had to really step up to beat her on that day. What a great time for her team to hit their stride, would be cool to see them take off like Hight did last year.
