Erica,
My God bless and keep you close to him. My wife survived this cancer and now it's over 35 years after the fact. Be really proactive and, as was said, ask LOTS of questions...but about all be safe and know there are lots of us out here that CARE!

Erica, be strong, have faith in God, keep your chin up and never give up! You are in my prayers and remember, more people survive cancer now than ever before.

Erica,

I 2nd and 3rd many of the comments, advice, and sentiments written here. I too enjoyed meeting you briefly in Max Naylor's hospitality area in Gainesville this year and my prayers are with you. Stay strong and as Doc stated, have faith, and God will bring you through this. Thanks for being vulnerable with your friends and fans. I know what that call felt like as my wife got the same call several years ago and it left us numb for awhile. My wife is now free of cancer and our wish is so will you.

Erica, i don't know you personally but from all your post's you've had here on the mater tells me you are a very strong person. What you need to do now is put yourself around your closest friends and family, they're there to support you. Also seek the closet Cancer Treatment Center of America, these people are the best, and you deserve the best. One of your strongest assets is stay positive, and wake up each day and smile, the road will be a little bumpy but you are going to be fine and i hope to meet you some day, maybe after you win your first round in T/F. My family and all the maters families are praying for your quick recovery. God Bless

Erica, my mother had cervical cancer over 30 years ago and lived to be 90 years old. I know that the possibility of not having children is overwhelming right now, but remember there are so many alternatives these days. Your health is the most important thing.

The rejection of your mother and her family is their loss, not yours. It sounds like you did everything you could and more than you should have had to.

No matter what your doctor tells you, I would get a second opinion. Just for peace of mind, if for no other reason.

Hang in there, God only gives us as much as we can handle. You will be in my prayers.

Erica,
Although we've never met, we are kindred spirits. Reading your post made me think I was reading my story. They are very similar from being raised by Grandparents, the relationship with my mother and the same cancer.
Mine was 19 years ago. Keep the faith, ask the doctors many questions and take someone with you. I know from experience you are in a fog and I thought of questions - AFTER the fact.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me.

Sound, sage advice from "Ma".

I would like to echo the sentiment of getting a second opinion.

Sending good vibes your way Erica!!!!

Hey Erica,

Lousy news.

Just as a general principal to any serious medical situation: Get a second opinion. You've got a good Doctor s/he'll never be threatened by your doing so. If there's any reluctance or blowback, that's your signal to DEFINITELY get a second opinion.

#2 - Cancer in general (and Cervical Cancer in particular) doesn't have to be a death sentence (Not to patronize you, I'm sure you know more about the specifics of your challenge than any of us keyboard Docs).

#3 - You've always impressed me as a person who "has her s**tuff together". I'm sure you'll manage this well and look back on it as another "blip". Keep your attitude strong! We're all supporting you.

Erica, keep the faith and remain strong. My family and I send out our prayers to you at this time!
