Kenny L. and Jeff S. are the two main ones.Times have changed. All control of racing and decision making is controlled by the race director in the tower. the starter is for turning on the AUTO START you don't see anyone checking for anything. The only time someone is shut off is when RAY CHARLES could see the issue. There are teams for mops, gold dust, leaf blowers, scraping track, spraying the track. Just watch and you will see what I am talking about.
BTW quiz-- Can you name the starter for the NHRA. no points if he is a family member or your friend.
Larry Sutton---starter and racer (RET.)
She did better today and it showed in her attitude during the track-end interviews which was more cheery than usual. It looked like she might have dropped a few pounds, too. Still fighting that car but she wasn't going to beat Anderson's 6.46 anyway. She did go .014 in rd 1. As with Brittany, I think confidence in the car translates to better RTs. Just my observation, I know there's a LOT more that goes into it. Hoping it leads to more excitement with Elite vs KB, always a fun rivalry.
Enders and Hyde have Pro Mod history, including a grudge race or two. Other than that I dunno. Maybe they're in a relationship. I've seen Alexander emotional to the point of crying and I've seen his temper sail off into outer space. Kind of a difficult person to figure out.TF: Brittany.....wow! Uber impressed with Tony Stewart and that team.
FC: Happy to see Alexis have a good outing and her lights weren't as suspect, even .056 in rd1. Spencer Hyde to the final was cool. Anyone notice EE on the starting line when he runs, she was there every run in Las Vegas. Interesting to know what happened to Beckman, seemed to be more to it than just "pedaling." Blake Alexander is a little awkward but I can't help but cheer for him.
PS: EE and Elite back into contention is good for the class, although KB is still .02 or .03 ahead. Maybe even .04.
Looks like a fun place to watch races. Reminds me of Bandimere but maybe even more quaint.
They mentioned it during round 2 and made mention of it not being mentioned earlier.Kalitta 300 mph to the 1/8 and no mention of it that I heard. Impressive
Hyde and Courtney Enders have been together for a while.Enders and Hyde have Pro Mod history, including a grudge race or two. Other than that I dunno. Maybe they're in a relationship. I've seen Alexander emotional to the point of crying and I've seen his temper sail off into outer space. Kind of a difficult person to figure out.
The Funnies were somewhat disappointing other than Hyde's 3.86, the cool pedalfest between Beckman and Wilkerson and Todd appeared most appreciative in his first win in a year and a half.
It was Courtney EndersI tuned in late. Who was the lady in the broadcast booth? I only heard her voice. Courtney Enders? Just a guess.
I remember the Herb Parks incident....very sad. As all of them are. And there's the one with Tony Pedregon where the FC throttle got whacked when they raised the body and bowled everyone over. I think the nitro flames evaporated Austin Coil's pants.
Larry, you and Buster Couch certainly had your hands full with the level of danger quadrupling every season as the cars got nastier and nastier.....
Consistency is what won that race for Brittany and consistency is why Stewart was her opponent in the final (where he's been 5 times this year). Neither had the quickest car but neither made any mistakes. And when it's 56 degrees and cloudy at race time, the opportunity for mistakes is ripe.remember two periods of time when grubby had brit flying and winning a lot, then they struggled last year, and i believe dave said at
beginning of last year that he was 'trying something different', and some of us on this site commented, why change a thing?
i wonder if the combo they have found now is closer to the old tuneup? or closer to something revised that has taken them approx. a year to figure out?
DK steps up yesterday with a great 3.64 @ 338.3 in E1. see if grubby can pickup some E.T. in next few races.
a great pair of 3.720's yesterday for ida. they are getting there too.
good weather, a great track, and some bleachers. maybe a couple of toilets too. epping produced. it was a great race.
