This broke earlier today and when I saw it, then read it, it broke my dang heart. It maybe has a year or too but is a heartbreaker. It has been threatened for years. LA sucks, that is one of the many reasons I bailed for the South 15 years ago.

TopFuel@Lions, or 32-car AA/FD Sunday morning dragster parades for the Winternationals.

They should have it designated as a protected historical site.

The problem with a lot of the property is it's in the crash zone for Brackett Field. Unless they close Brackett Field there won't be any apartments of shopping centers on a large section of that land.

F'n greed. And I don't want to hear "progress" And give it time for the Sonoma/Napa area,,,,, they already complain about the 1 Friday night a year. I think they had something to do with cutting the TA classes/sportsman to shorten the eliminations.

Motorbiscuit isnt quite correct in there. The planning commission met last night and there wasnt any discussion of closing the drag strip. They have plans for other parts of the fairplex.

This whole story is nothing more than click bait

Totally agree.. plus, even when they do come up with a plan, good luck implementing it. It takes forever and ever to get anything done here, especially large scale.

Really hate hearing this, even as a east coast guy. Felt same way when they ended Englishtown. I'm not surprised though, it's California. Hopefully Gainesville can take the reigns as season opener and have Vegas as Finals.

Not sure what all y'all are moaning about. The article is a joke. Just the author saying what he thinks is gonna happen, with no hard evidence to back those opinions up. "This may happen in the future because I think so" is not evidence. Evidence is real reports from the city saying they plan to close the racetrack in the near future, of which there is none.

This isn't even close to a news article. Just an opinion column.

I agree. As I was reading this article, I quickly surmised that it wasn't news, it was more an opinion based on some loose and badly interpreted facts.

Having been a resident of California for most of my life, and now live in New England, I get so sick of hearing people who don't live in California throw California under the bus whenever they can. The flavor of the day seems to be 'damn liberals in California' etc etc blah blah blah. There's a reason why it's the most populous state in the union. California is smart and doesn't just care about the here and now, California leads the way in technology, the environment as well as countless other areas of industry. California is always looking to the future and developing in that fashion. As far as the Fairplex, it isn't going anywhere anytime soon, however, one day it will and it will be the right thing to do...until then, quit yo complainin'.

Fake news has come to the NHRA.

That's right, we Californians maybe dumb, but not stupid. One only has to look across the street to see Brackett Field (an airport). Does anyone really think developing housing so close to the landing strip is a good idea?
