in recent WFO episode, joe interviews don, who mentions ed, who at the time of interview
had just entered hospice. you could tell in don's voice his tight connection to his long time friend.
Although ,at Crane,we were certainly competitors with Ed, he and I were good friends. Always enjoyed conversing with him.. Always pleasant, great memory. RIP, Ed.
Thinking of a few folks involved in drag racing from the beginning. CJ Pappy Hart, Isky, and more I'm not remembering. What it must have been like going from 1948 (first sanctioned drag race at Goleta) to 2026. Night & day. “His influence can be felt in every form of motorsport today,” Car and Driver magazine wrote of the man who powered some of the fastest cars of his era with his innovative engine camshafts.
