Let the NHRA know that you will be making test runs BUT they will be to test out new safety equipment. Anything related to safety. With NHRA's motto of "Dedicated to safety", how could they say no?

Just a thought.

Easy. It has never been about safety, it has only about MONEY.

A team could add another car to selected races. For example, a team would usually make 20-30 test laps a year; each lap costing 5K ($100,000-150,000 per year.) I'm willing to bet some teams run more than that many test laps and costs much more than that per round. I know you need another chassis, parts, people, etc. But....The 2nd car could enter every 4th or 5th race, or what ever race is nearby and use the qualifying time as testing, and possibly a few rounds on Sunday.
Lets say Kenny Bernstein would add another Budweiser sponsored top fuel (which would be the "Test" vehicle.) I'm sure Kenny's sponsorship dollars have already calculated into X amount of test sessions. So Budweiser would get twice the exposure at a few more races for the same amount of dollars. And the fields would be a little bit fuller on sundays.
Budweiser, seeing more exposure and more brand awareness on TV for the same amount of dollars may be more inclined to extend their sponsorship with drag racing.

I'm understanding both sides here... I believe Paul's side is based on at least 10 TF teams running all 17 events up to the countdown cut... I believe Ron and others are saying with a low full time car count that a team could run a combination of both IHRA and NHRA events, and just might earn enough points in both to contend for the championship in both. This ruling would make that impossible now. Also, this applies only to Top Fuel, IHRA doesn't run Floppers.

I'd love to see the IHRA put the same rule into effect.

And After the cut off, if your not in the 'TEN'... why not get a head start on next season... 11th on, points don't matter, you're just going for the 'Win" using Paul's own argument.

Huh?? The little guys can, they just won't get any points when the race at the next NHRA race. The little guys who run in the NHRA will most likely not be in points contention for the top 10, so it doesn't matter. Did you read the article on NHRA.com from the top owners on the testing rule????? Clearly you didn't, because it states the top teams would test if one team was "testing until they were blue in the face" and they were gaining a performance advantage. As far as the top teams testing in the IHRA, they would if they were struggling and the IHRA would let them race, hence the reason why this was put into the rule. Let me ask you a question, if you were in charge how would you limit testing? If your rope statement was some sort of "in your face", try again because top teams would use the IHRA to test if it wasn't in the rule regardless of what they did last year.

You're saying you know what the top teams would do while saying what the top teams haven't done. The "rope" comment was as I said, that you finally came around to making a point that could be used to support what you're against as much as what you're for.

I seem to recognize partisanship in many forms. Some people act as if one political side or another can never be right or wrong. Some people do it with racing associations.
