Mechanicsville, MD (October 2, 2006) - Despite a very productive outing for Danny Rowe, the team was not able to continue their success through eliminations. Rowe had a strong qualifying effort. Taking the provisional pole on Friday with a 6.08, he was able to improve his time on Saturday. After the final qualifying session on Saturday, Rowe would start Sunday's eliminations from the number three spot with his best time of the weekend being a 6.04, 236.01 MPH.
Sunday morning brought final eliminations. Rowe would pair up against John Russo in round one and the team was optimistic to go rounds. With a tight points chase going all the way to the end, Rowe had an opportunity to advance from his current third place standing. Although Rowe, and his Jimmy Rector led team gave it all they had, Rowe engaged in tire shake early in his pass during round one of eliminations, allowing Russo to drive around him.
After this weekend, the already exciting points race became more exciting if that is possible," said Rowe. "For us the weekend was good. We qualified well - the car ran well. Unfortunately, we went out first round, but so did a lot of the other cars that are in the top points positions. That keeps us still in the game, which is what we want. Rockingham will now have to be the race we can come through and win. There is now a greater sense of urgency for Rockingham."
Rowe went on to comment, "We are a very consistent team, and overall we have performed well. We just need to continue as we have and be prepared for the final race of the season."
Danny Rowe and team would like to thank Gainsborough Capital, NGK Sparkplugs, Hoosier Tires, Redline Oil, and Weld Racing for their continued support.
The next stop for the IHRA eMax Drag Racing Series is the IHRA World Finals at Rockingham Dragway, October 20 - 22, 2006.
