SONOMA, Calif. – GT Tonglet’s race weekend ended almost as soon as it began Friday when a motor malfunction slowed the Nitro Fish/Tonglet Racing Suzuki GSXR in the first qualifying run of the FRAM/Autolite Nationals at Infineon Raceway.
“We broke a transmission shaft on that run and it hurt the motor,” Tonglet explained. “We’ve been pushing the Suzuki motor farther and farther . . . and there’s always a weak link somewhere. We’re going to keep working on it. We want to get up to the front of the pack.”
The team’s next race is Aug. 19-21 at Brainerd, Minn.
