NHRA Funny Car pioneer, header manufacturer Doug Thorley - 1928-2021

Drag racing Hall of Fame driver Doug Thorley, the first NHRA U.S. Nationals Funny Car champion and an aftermarket giant known for his line of exhaust headers, died March 10 of natural causes. He was 92.

Doug lived a couple miles form me in Cedar city Utah. His family were part of the pioneers that founded Cedar city. Doug was a great racer and a great gentlemen to know.

I just saw the story this morning on NHRA. I remember his Corvair. that was such a cool car. RIP.
