Congrats on their # 1 and he is certainly a fast learner. Will he be back next year? If yes, I'm thinking title run.
 
Got a great interview (Okay, so I'm biased) with Richards in the latest issue of Drag Racing Action magazine (January 2011 - on sale now with Spencer Massey on the cover). He talks about what it feels like to be back and other things.
 
Basically a whole new setup since Tim Retired ! Just shows how good he and Kim are !
Morgan Lucas sure could use them ! But that's another story !

Until the Lucas group (family) hires a Lee Beard Team Manager type, and give him complete control of all aspects of the race team, they will continue on their path of mediocre performance. The last person who tried too take control was fired in a couple of months. As an observer to me it is obvious, the whole organization is dysfunctional, your team needs to be staffed with people that want to win at all costs period. I'm sure there are a some good employees but on the whole it is house cleaning time top to bottom. The I'm here for the fun of it tour needs to end at Lucas Racing.
Unfortunately it is not likely to happen and the parade of tuners will continue.

I am a happy subscriber John, I HATE that it's bi-monthly. I loved the interview said nothing about next year tho.
 

Yea that perfectly describes the Lucas issue. I would think with the reputation they made for crew chief's job security over there someone with as high a caliber as Tim and Kim or even Tim and Kim would be afraid to go there. On the outside, it does not seem like a pressure free environment, MLR has to show, and yes i may be wrong, but they have to show that they will hire a crew chief and not fire him if he can't win 5-6 races a year. They need to go back to the basics and make a foundation for tuning, I admire Morgan tuning himself, yet if he can't learn how to run 3.80's-.79's by next year, he's gonna have many first round exits and he like so many will not be the answer
