Diving lessons?

Eugene, sounds like you have awesome job, get to be around all the teams, and most races. I'm sure there's some boring moments but overall a lot of fun. I hope it works out for you for a long time.
Thank's...the 4 hour flight from Chicago to California is pretty boring.:)

Supporting the reason why the pro's were gone from this site long ago...I give you "Exhibit A" for your viewing pleasure.
Well, some (Ok, just 1) got locked up for stealing our (taxpayers) money and doling it out to race teams like candy.

And a lot of people on here defended him to the very end, (particularly those who benefited) when others were calling him out for his criminal ways.

Care to take a guess who I am talking about?

I think its good to hear from Shoe again. Takes guts to step in a room where everyone is bashing you and try to explain your side. I like Shoe and Force and think it would be nice to see the people of the NHRA back in here.

A rule of thumb I use when posting on this site, is don't post it here if you wouldn't say it to the person's face. Some people feel pretty big behind the keyboard knowing they will likely never see or talk to the person they are hammering away at. I know a certain amount of crap comes with being a big personality in the sport like the Don is, but irrespective of whether there was a conspiracy at Pomona, some of the stuff thrown his way is a bad look all the way around. I can guarantee you NONE of the posters here would call him a weenie to his face.

You can opine and disagree all you want, but in the end, all we have is our civility.
Great post, Chris. I personally didn't see anything out of the ordinary on Sun. Everyone that lined up against Hagan new that he had just ran a 3.98 at Vegas where the air wasn't as good as Pomona and new they would probably need a really good number to beat him. That track was really tight all weekend. That is one of the reasons you saw a lot of the independent teams struggling and hurting parts. Parked right next to us was Chrisman, Diehl, Westerfield in Worshams car and a few more with the rods hanging out for one reason or another. Due to a really tight track and weak fuel pump we shook so hard on Q-1 that we cracked the fuel tank and vibrated the msd box into a different mode.

If you are talking about me, when the facts came out I didn't defend anyone. Care to post the proof, little man?

Nice deflect, by the way.

Now I have a question for you. Back then you were posting your BS over and over again as if you were some sort of expert about how the IRS was going to destroy everyone who was sponsored by him. Mind telling us how that worked out? I can tell you. The money was legally reported and claimed to the IRS as operating income by the teams just like any other sponsorship funding would be. Taxes were paid on that money just like you are supposed to. Many people were employed by the race teams with that money. They paid taxes on it, too. The end.

Many people got burnt, especially the taxpayers. But nothing you spouted as truth ever came true.

Nighty night.

I remember when this was a racer board. Unfortunately it became a fan board. Before the mater, there was the old Compuserve site. All racers.

And before Compuserve "RIS" (Racing Information Services) It was the 1-900 Castrol GTX Hotline with Dave McClelland. $5 for the first minute and $75 for each additional minute (adjusted for inflation) to get nightly results unless you wanted to wait two weeks for it to show up in National Dragster. LOL. Some of us had friends on different teams who would call us to let us know what was going on.

As i have said before; i think this is one of the best discussions we have had here in a long time. Yes there are some who have gotten too personal and crossed the line but we are all passionate about drag racing and not everyone is an adult all the time. Its been a valid debate. About a subject well worth discussing. And i hope that many of the people that have been named have seen this thread. Obviously don s has watched it as it unfurled and it hit a nerve. Thats a good thing. This might be a small group of people but its one very direct source of feedback to owner and drivers from fans. What i wanted to hear from don was very simple: there was heads up honest racing from all dsr cars that came up against hagan at pomona. Period! I did not hear that. Well so be it. Life will go on. As someone just said there are many more serious issue in all of our lives. Just to make it clear to mr. Schumacher. I like and respect all drivers and team owners. i am a huge fan of dons son tony. Not only because of his driving abilities but manly for the way he conducts himself at the race track. Sportmanship matters to me alot. So when it seems like a line has been crossed it bothers me. I'll continue to love the sport. But as my friend us to say " once you get a taste in your mouth it never goes away "

I actually think that this has been a very pro-DSR site over the years. The Dark side nitro debate, the fact that he has come on here many times over the years, his general support of the sport has at minimum gained him much respect if not fans. Yes there are Force fans and DSR fans here but save for a few, it doesn't seem to be a very Anti anyone crowd here.(race teams that is)

Most seem to understand the why, some support it others just don't like the need for it or the idea that a) we can't question it or b) it can't be honest.
I understand from a business point why it goes down. I wouldn't want to win that way but if asked to take one for the team I would help a teammate out.

Yes there used to be many racers, sponsors, owners and insiders here. Many more than some people realize. While some where known, I know others were under fake names and just came to check things out and hang out under aliases. When things started getting ugly the thought was that by going to real names it would clean it up. I do think it has but now those drivers can't have fun and be hidden anymore either so most have left. As someone said the advent of Facebook and Twitter allows them to stay in contact with many more than a message board does, although it may not be quite as personal as this, it is effective. I don't think comments here are that bad either. Many of those same drivers hang out at yellowbullet. Lord knows that place is harsher then we ever were(Erica even mentioned them in her awards speech) but everyone can stay hidden there. The cloak of darkness allows the idiots to come out more but it also allows the drivers/owners and such to be in secret as well.

Some will look at the Hight/Force Indy event, the DSR Pomona races, the Smith's PSB finals and say everything waa 100% on the up and up, others will call BS, some don't care as long as they are entertained and others fully embrace the team aspect. Regardless, it is fine to question, debate it, support it or oppose it. Just keep your heads on about it. No need to attack each other or the people involved.

As i said earlier, congrats to team DSR for an outstanding year,,,now, lets get ready for silly season and 2015. Just 75 more miles and a plane flight back home and my 2014 season is officially over.:D

I know most of you love Force and do not care about DSR. All 4 rounds including Force in the final did not make a full run against Hagan! I never spoke to TJ's Crew Chief but realize he took the right lane which is the lane TJ beat Del from and also with the sun setting it is easier to get a better reaction time not looking into the setting sun. On that run Matt had his worst RT of the race because of the sun. I will not respond to this thread again since most people want to creat turmoil.
Shoe
Count me as one of those that support DSR and don't care about JFR. :) I know in the past you've stated there are no team orders and never believed there were any orders for this race. Congrats to DSR for an incredible year!
