$ difference between TD and TAD? (5 Viewers)

I know a guy involved in F1, one time we were out and someone asked him, What is the difference between Indy car and F1 ?? he replied a "B" as in Billions vs. Millions. One F1 team could fund all of TF, FC and have enough left over to fund all of PS. IIRC their cap is $600 million year without driver salaries.

Just the travel expenses in F1 is more than the total than JFR spends total.

I would be very interested to know what the actual car expenses are.

I dont know the numbers but let me add some info, The Mercedes team has 2500 employees, 1500 of which work on engine/drivetrain. I cant imagine what the pay is based on expertise at those levels.

TD vs TAD? Well I would rather have some hand tremors instead of a Thoracic Aortic Dissection…. By the way, don’t google drag race…. you’ll be very disappointed…

Seconded, and let's find out funding/income too!
Unfortunately F1 is in a whole other world when it comes to money.

Mercedes operates as an independent commercial enterprise with an estimated team valuation of $6 billion. Instead of parent-company subsidies, the team funds its operations—including driver salaries, R&D, and logistics—through the following channels:

  • Sponsorships & Licensing: Commercial partners provide the bulk of the team's income (over $550 million annually). Key sponsors include Petronas, INEOS, CrowdStrike, Microsoft, and Adidas.
  • Prize Money: Earnings are determined by the team's standing in the previous year's Constructors' Championship. Prize money payouts account for a substantial portion of yearly revenue.
  • The estimated 2025 Constructors' Championship payouts include:
    • Ferrari: $277.7 million (includes legacy/historic team bonuses)
    • Mercedes: $230.8 million
    • Red Bull: $202.9 million
    • McLaren: $165.8 million (Champions)
      • Aston Martin: $109.3 million
  • NHRA prize money doesn't even cover travel expenses.
  • Budget Cap Constraints: F1 regulations mandate a strict operational cost cap, keeping team spending well within profitable revenue margins. Set at $135 million a year minus driver salaries and drivetrain R&D
  • Corporate Ownership: The organization operates as a tripartite partnership divided equally (33.33% each) among the Mercedes-Benz Group, petrochemical giant INEOS, and Team Principal Toto Wolff.[1, 2]

Drag racing is the poor of the poor in motorsport.
