Difference between cast iron (Rage) and billet steel (Waterman)

I wonder how much difference the material makes in pumps. I assume cast iron has a more even heat absorption, like a cast iron skillet, and billet steel is prone to hot spots. I wonder if this makes a difference in flow over the course of a run.
