Really glad to read that Jeff was okay from this. Scary moments for sure for everyone.

I wish them all the best in getting the car back together..............................

Yeah, that has to suck, especially in his wallet area, best of luck getting it back out there.

That really sucked to see. Poor guy has had 3 expensive incidents this year. Thankfully he was OK each time. I wonder what caused the burst panel to come loose and get wedged in the injector?

Is that the report of what started this whole mess?
They showed it on the broadcast once or twice and Mike mentioned it. You could see the burst panel shake loose and then get stuck in the injector butterflies right before the car started to make a right turn.

When Scott Kalitta went back to FC in what '06? He was in Phoenix for Testing, he hit the wall knocking the burst panel into the injector blades with the motor wide open! That Motor hung open for a good 7 seconds! I thought he went to Tucson on that Pass!

I think they're held with nylon screws...they have to be able to let go to release the pressure...

Yes they're 1/4" nylon screws, I think our car has eight of them.

We check them after every pass as sometimes they'll break from the
vibration or flexing of the body. I've replaced a bunch of them.

We have one body with 1/4" nylon screws ( 4 of them), the '10' body has 4 #10 nylon screws holding it in.. The screws are not the problem... The problem is the retaining cables are to long, allowing the panel to get back that far... when the body guy doesn't catch the broken or loose screws between rounds..... At any rate Jeff told me he would see me next year and he is probably real close to his Mexico hideaway right about now;);)
