Regulation tables can only play that type of game as well... smaller pockets, longer green.... Two eight-ball tables in the same space make a lot more money...

I don't understand this. With the amount of fuel at idle other than running out of fuel during the run........what does the 70 versus 50 seconds mean. Fuel will keep this thing running at an idle temp for a long time.

I'm not a tuner but my understanding is the clutch is where the major problem arrises. More heat in the clutch would change the coefficient of friction and hence change the whole lockup process from A to B. If I'm wrong, flog me.

You are correct but in this case he didn't have a clutch problem..at least not one that was noticable or one that was talked about during the broadcast. He burned a piston which he also did during qualifing. Sounds like he had a problem in the fuel system.

after my initial report on the burned piston, matt and i were talking and he said they had the same heads on the engine that were on during thursday's qualifying pass. that was the only time they burned a piston before eliminations. matt said the heads were either in the trash or being sold.

also, tommy said the, for lack of a better term, "staging duel" did not cause them to burn the piston.

i'm not sure either, unless it didn't seal properly and therefore caused one of the cylinders to "lean" out. but, keep in mind i'm not a "motor man." LOL!

John K, I totally agree there did not seem to be a problem with this pairing as far as performance goes. What was it, .14 to .16 or such...nothing wrong with that! I would also think the clutch situation could lead to loading the motor differently, changing fuel need/want of the engine and burning pistons in a given race. Again, I am going on what I've read/seen over the years and would appreciate a hands on fuel tuner talking us through this.
