D'Aprile Completes First Tour of Duty

ROCKINGHAM, NC - When the 2006 IHRA Drag Racing season started, Tommy D'Aprile began as a rookie driver in Torco's CompetitionPlus.com Pro Modified class. D'Aprile would be deployed with several missions by his sponsor Evan Knoll and team owner Quain Stott. His main objectives; help Evan Knoll spread a message of encouragement and support to the men and women of the armed forces by competing in the 1963 Pro Mod "Support Our Troops", LeeBoy Corvette and to finish the season in the top 10 among the world's best Pro Modified teams and drivers. D'Aprile and his team were prepared to meet the challenge.

D'Aprile would display the presences and abilities of a seasoned team driver. Fighting back from adversity throughout the season, while improving his performance all along the way. Powered by Torco Race Fuels, D'Aprile completed the season fifth in points, captured top qualifying honors twice and competed in 2 final rounds. He would also rewrite the record books in Grand Bend when he set both ends of the track record (6.084 ET @ 235.10 MPH).

"This year was a chance for us to prove ourselves as a team and to show what a two car team could be capable of in Pro Mod. The friendship that I have developed with Quain and the way that these two team gelled really meant a lot to me. Having two cars in the top five this year is something that I think is a great accomplishment that we can grow from for the future. I can't wait for 2007."

"This was really a dream year for us," said D'Aprile. "Having an opportunity to represent Evan and the positive message that this car brought to all of the events was special for us. It was really exciting to watch how the support for this team and the message of supporting our troops grew with each race."

<img src="http://www.nitromater.com/gallery/files/5/td_rock_hel.jpg"align="left"borders="0"/>D'Aprile will also present Evan Knoll with a special gift. During the season, D'Aprile had his racing helmet signed by men and women of the Armed Forces and Veterans, including Fire and EMT personnel. The helmet with over 100 signatures will be presented to Knoll later this year and auctioned off with proceeds donated to a special military family.

"Evan is a special person, not only to the drag racing community, but to our military also," said D'Aprile.

"I can't really thank everyone enough for the opportunity," he added. No matter what happened this season, win, lose or draw, we always came back fighting. How can I ask for anymore."
