D'Aprile Plans on Making Norwalk Memorable

(August 23, 2006) Port Charlotte, Fla. - Norwalk Raceway Park is a special place for drag racers and fans alike. It's "Wild Bill's Ice Cream", stadium style seating and standing room only every time they open the gates. For Tommy D'Aprile and the Evan Knoll sponsored, "Support Our Troops" Pro Modified Corvette, it's the perfect back drop for a rookie team to earn its first Iron Man.

"I had a chance to test there last year," D'Aprile explained. "It's certainly a great facility. The Skull Shine World Nationals is the perfect place for this team to earn a victory."

If hard work has anything to do with it, D'Aprile and his Quain Stott Drag Racing team may have a leg up on the competition. Stott spent extra time testing after the last race and the team made an additional 15 laps in Darlington in preparation for this event. "We've worked hard," D'Aprile added. "We're going to make sure that everyone else is going to have to work harder to beat us."

The Knoll Gas - Torco Race Fuels Pro Modified class has become one of the toughest classes in drag racing. Just getting a car qualified for an event is an accomplishment. The average car count for the Pro Modified's through the first six events has been thirty-three. Five of the current top 10 points earners have failed to qualify for an event at some point during the season. "It's tough out there," said D'Aprile. "But if it was easy, I guess it wouldn't be as fun. Qualifying is tough, but it's only half the battle. We've got to stay focused to get where we want to be."

D'Aprile find himself in the midst of a mid-season points battle where every round of competition counts heavily. D'Aprile is currently in fourth position, just 61 points from teammate Stott and 63 points from the Danny Rowe, who is second. "Quain better watch out," D'Aprile joked. "He's the closest target for us. He didn't hesitate to pass us earlier this year, we'd like to repay him by passing him if we get the chance."

Qualifying for the Skull Shine World Nationals begins Friday, August 25 and eliminations begin Sunday. To learn more about Tommy D'Aprile and the "Support Our Troops", LeeBoy Corvette, visit the team website at http://quainstott.com.
